We aren’t in LA anymore Toto.

Vegas looked scary AF tonight.

Take note boys.

Need to get some good licks on Eichel when the moments arise. He’s Mr Everything. Knocking him out of this series would be crucial.

Vegas will probably be even better next game. Hopefully last change helps us counter and we can figure out how to stay on top of them like game 1. Crazy amount of lost puck battles tonight.

They won't be able to get the Eichel match ups they want in Oiltown.. Hill proved he's more than beatable.. might help reduce the number of Oiler forwards that refuse to shoot the puck and are intent on passing it into net..

Lots of things to improve defensively.. expect they are up to the task.

I think Roy gets a minimum game suspension.. and McCabe looks like he's got a separated shoulder.. Vegas roster could get shooken up.

Oooo, that’s quite possible.

I think at this point, it’s safe to say Calvin Pickard is easily the 2nd best thing to come out of Moncton.

If you want something scary before bed. The backup on Vegas is Akira Schmid.

2 years ago he stole a 5 game series with.

1 GA .972 sav%
1 GA .957 sav%
SO
SO

as his wins.

Then vanished into obscurity ... until now?

Never in my wildest dreams did I expect us to be leaving Vegas with a 2-0 series lead. Thought it was over once Vegas tied it at 4.

Ended up shutting off my streams and just listening to the radio broadcast as the streams kept crashing on me.

How good has Walman been these playoffs? I'd never heard of him before we acquired him, but man is he steady back there.

Eichel with a heck of a game. Almost felt bad for him getting walked so badly on that OT winner. Almost icon_wink

I wouldn't be surprised if Vegas comes out looking to injure on Saturday in retaliation for McNabb, even though that was by no means intentional. Unlike a certain crosscheck to the face...

Our special teams REALLY need to figure things out. So much for us being "special teams merchants."

Dear god - the whining and crying from Stone, Cassidy, and all the media. The entire HNIC panel beside themselves that the Oilers got away with one. Button losing his mind. You would think the Oilers had never had a single infraction against them go uncalled.

I have a feeling our streak of getting less PP opps than our opponents will continue next game.

Good to dig up memories to compare. We needed a PP in the elimination game 6 last time against Vegas. Ekholm going for a puck and gets a high stick right under his eye. Blood pouring out of the cut. No call.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GqfGu51WIAA2pyD?format=jpg&name=small

Getting the benefit of refs being blind is very welcome, because we aren't getting any benefit any other way from these guys. Think the ref was late getting back to see that Arvidsson play and had the net in his line of sight when the trip happened.

Technically Vegas still gets more PP ops again last night, and our 8th straight game of not getting more ops than our opponent.

Vegas up 7 to 5 in the series in PP's, 25 to 18 in the playoffs overall. I'm sure the refs will ensure that continues after the miss last night.

Oilers are 18-27 PP's to PK's in the playoffs.

PP opportunities per game we are second lowest of all 16 playoff teams at 2.25, behind only Minny. That's crazy when you think of all the abuse that McDavid in particular has to deal with.

On the flip side, we've been penalized the second MOST, behind only Winnipeg. Yeah, many of those were stupid deserved penalties, but let's not pretend that the refs are calling things in our favour as a result of a couple of missed calls in one game.

That second stat is particularly concerning given out absolutely dismal PK these playoffs (59.3% vs the next worst of the remaining teams which is the Caps at 71.4%)

It was an accident its not like he poked his stick into the guys skates from behind as the guy goes skating full speed into a corner.. similar to scenario where McDavid got that high sticking penalty when his stick hit the net and went up into the Vegas player's face.. if he got a serious eye injury from that it wouldn't have been on McDavid, just bad luck.. having said that.. to be honest if it was an Oiler I'd be PO'd as well.. but knowing deep down it wasn't intentional.

You see that same play every game, and unfortunately this one resulted in a trip that led to and injury and there was no call on the ice. I don't blame Vegas fans for being mad about a missed call, but there is no world where that play deserves a hearing. It is not Arvidsson's faults the refs missed it, and there was clearly no intent to injure, because it was a relatively normal play.

For sure. Seeing the replay too, can see why the ref missed it. He's got the net in his line of sight when McNabb's foot is pushed. Arvidsson quickly pulls his stick out before the ref has a clear view. I think both guys were expecting that puck to bounce differently and go across the back of the boards, but it bounced almost straight off the curve. McNabb hurts his situation too having to reach over to get a piece of it as he's falling. Poop happens.

Also, looks like Roy IS getting a hearing for trying to remove all of Frederic's teeth.

Stats like these always crack me up. It's cool, but it's also so niche-y a stat that you have to wonder how hard you'd have to work to find the answer to whether it's ever happened before.

SinBin.vegas @SinBinVegas

Mark Stone skated right over to the referees after the OT goal and tapped his stick on the glass, indicating "this is on you."

He is absolutely livid.

Imagine how many years McDavid would have to wait to get another call in his favor if he did that directly to a ref.

The "go upstairs and check that one" sarcasm early in his career had McDavid in the bad books for a couple seasons, and he had to apologize to that ref eventually.

Stone has got to be kidding. Given the two posts off horrendous giveaways in the minutes leading up to that goal, the Knights were lucky to have gotten that deep in to OT anyhow. And half their goals came on the man advantage, they have had more powerplays in both games, and they certainly haven't been innocent angels through the series so far. McNabb himself has been guilty of a bunch of interference/holding.

I get the frustration when a player gets hurt, but suck it up Princess.

All that said, Knoblauch should be paying attention and ready to risk a fine here himself. They're trying to manipulate the officiating and what we've seen in the past is that that often works. He may have to do something other than play it super cautious at some point here.

On the ice for the GWG

Eichel (10M)
Stone (9.5M)
Peter Angelo (8.8M)
Whitecloud (2.75M)
Barbashev (5M)

Their 3 highest paid guys. A 36M group. Yeah, I would argue pretty hard that goal was on them, not the refs.

People were talking about PedroAngelo losing a step this season. He did score a lucky one when Pickard was distracted after his leg was fallen on (anyone else get some crazy flashbacks when that happened?), but man he made some bad plays in that OT. Hope he keeps that up.

Vegas is going full retard laying the ground work for some "even up" calls.. pathetic.. we'll see if it pays off for them on Roy's suspension.. although he isn't a main ingredient on their team and DOPeS might throw him under the bus to look authoritative.. intent to injure.. guy should get 5 games.
This is good.. let them focus on blaming something other than their own play..

Someone from the org should 100% get out there and counter the chatter. I suggested it before the series, but feel even more strongly about it now.

Come out and say something about how we know because of all the whining we will get even more calls against us. Or maybe a better tactic would be a missed call montage. Or show goalie interference vs not goalie interference clips.

Not sure what the best approach is, but if feels like everyone, the entire Vegas org plus pretty much all the MSM are looking for their pound of flesh in game 3.

I will be shocked if we walk out of that game either with more or even equal number of PP opportunities. The only way it ends up close will be if the game gets out of reach either way. They’ll pad their stats to appear impartial.

No Cups

How often do the Oilers get a no call on a lot of plays where we lose out by a goal or a suspension or something of that ilk? Lots man, I've seen my fair share... the hand interference preventing Smith to make a overtime save comes to mind as the most recent egregious.

Finally we get one on what was a most definite penalty on Ardvisson.. and the Roy penalty 5 and a game. (maybe two)?!

That said, the referees lately are only calling the most obvious penalties in the game, everything else including tackling seems to be above board.

The Knights are going to come into our barn and do what the Oilers did to LA.. ex...except..excep it's an an away game n such.

The very definition of insanity is doing the exact same thing expecting different results.

Generally Disappointed.
