I am honest to goodness stunned that the Leafs will not get a Saturday night game in round two. Of all possible schedule this one has to be the least likely.

Feels good not to care about the draft lottery.

Nice long shot lottery winners. No full rewards for tanking this year.

Watta come back by the Jets.. thought they were done at 3-1.. then the 2 goals in last 2 minutes.. goalie pulled.. to tie.. 3 seconds left in the game!

Gutsy effort.

Kinda karma for St. Louis.. for taking out both Schiefflie and Morrisey .. especially Schenn on Schiefflie.. totally targeting best player.

I hate Pionk but he played well .. 46 minutes.. They will be in tough vs. Dallas.. don't think Schiefflie is coming back any time soon.. plus Morrisey looks to have a separated shoulder..

Florida losing badly. Somehow Bennett manages to skate perfectly to pick the head of Stolarz with no leaf player pushing him in any way. Stolarz forced to sit out by the spotter. Pretty clownish stuff. Should be given suspensions for garbage like that from Bennett.

Butt ends to the head are his signature move. You'd think at some point the league would start to notice but it's the NHL.

Honestly at this point it should be the organization and Maurice that they go after. The team's identity is shooting roids and targeting heads. That's not just the players promoting it.

Leave it to the scumbag Panthers to make me cheer for the leafs. Bennett even gets a goal late. Now he's wishing he took Woll out too to force the Leafs to play the EBUG.

I was absolutely stunned to find myself cheering for the Leafs last night. I'm not even exaggerating - Nylander scored at the start of the game, I fist pumped and whooped, and my wife was like "YOU are cheering for the Leafs???" I suppose I am - for this round, and this round only.

Too funny, EXACT same scenario at my house. Same wifey reaction, same reason - panther hate is also strong in my house.

Good morning, Buffalo.

We’ve been told that after multiple days of presenting to Terry Pegula, Kevyn Adams will return at the Sabres GM for 2025-26 Season.

The Waterboy lives to fight another day in Buffalo. Incredible survival skills. Less impressive are his GMing skills of course...

Buffalo Sabres exist to make sure fans of other teams know how much worse it could still be.

Arthur Staple @StapeAthletic

On some #Isles items swirling around:

-- As of now Ken Holland is top choice
-- Contact made with MTL for permission to speak to Jeff Gorton
-- Marc Bergevin in the mix for #Isles/LAK jobs
-- Have not heard much on Kekäläinen/Chiarelli
-- This may all change in an hour

Extend McDavid, and with him locked up and unable to complain, let Ken Holland have his Nurse back? :)

A little off topic, but the Islanders surprise win of the draft lottery means they will be drafting first overall exactly 25 years after they picked Rick Dipietro 1st overall in 2000. They still have 4 years left of paying him for the buyout of his 15 year contract. Still paying for a poor first round selection and subsequent terrible contract and asset management 25 years later.

A nice second chance for them. And no goalie with Brodeur-tier stick handling near the top of the board, luckily for them :)

I think Ken Holland as 27 years as GM, and has never picked #1 before. #4 the best he ever got.
Maybe that's a nice bucket list thing for him too.

I guess us Oiler fans shouldn't throw too many stones from our glass house. In 24-25 the Oilers paid $100,000 more for Jack Campbell to NOT play than they did for Pickard to play and become their number one in round 1 (1.1 million this year for Campbell's buyout compared to $1 million for Pickard).

I guess there's both good and bad in that stat.

PS: Just having a look, Campbell's buyout number goes up to 2.3 next year and 2.6 in 26-27. Those are hard bites out of the cap. At least this is the last year for Neal, leaving Campbell as their last dead money space (until they get another one).

And who was it that A) signed Jack Campbell and B) bought him out??? Why it's the guy the Islanders are thinking of signing!!!!

Maybe we can get Sorokin for Nurse...
