WooooohoooooO!!!!!!
What a game. One more just like that please. Well, maybe with a few more goals past Kuemper. I'd be okay if it was a laugher for a change.

That was a tough tough game. So much effort, so little luck. Refs being their ridiculous selves as well to add to the challenge.
Stuck with it and won. LA looks so tired out there. By the 3rd they just gave up on trying to track McDavid with the puck and just kept collapsing and praying.
Pickard solid, only beat by a perfect deflection up over his glove. Just solid in net, never looking panicked.

A huge win in the context of the series, but what was impressive to me, was that it wasn't the big boys having to do it themselves. This was a team effort and big games from the likes of Klingberg, Frederic and Kane.
Another one like that in this series would be good, and perhaps a few more going forward please

Yeah. Once again Kane is the man in on the tying goal. And the guy that finally gets a favorable bounce off Kuemper’s endless rebounds and can finally cash one in is Janmark. No luck for the big boys tonight but didn’t end up needing it.

You bet man.. Kane is a total gamer. Same mold as Perry. The will to win and make a difference.
He's only going to get better.. this is his training camp/pre-season ..

Not sure if it’s luck. Relentless high octane Oilers are getting past at least two games where we’d be ‘goalie’d’ in the regular season. Kuemper’s been outstanding.
After game 2 , I felt like this was not a team to take a long run, but after a few games they found their timing and looked rested and heakthy’ish.
If this is them ….. could be a fun summer drinking deck beer.

Oh for sure Keumper has a ton of skill.. great goaltender.. he made great saves.. but quite a few this game just hit him.. that's what I mean by luck.

Even beyond the initial shots. Kuempers rebound control was trash all night. Stuff coming off him all over the place but never where we needed it. All the chaos and the puck just finding ways to never be in a good spot. Until Janmark.

Kings have their Ferrell, who seems to be a lame entitled award chaser now.

This should have been a blowout if not for Kuemper and some insane luck with bounces right up until one landed for Janmark. LA is looking like a team that emptied the tank trying to finish us quick. Almost worked too, but the Oilers were sitting on another level and it came out in perfect sync with LA getting exhausted.
Glad this game was close though, cause we shouldn't feel like we can breeze through game 6.

A fantastic performance. Oilers always seem to get better as a series goes on.
Horrible reffing. We’ve had 5 straight periods of dominance, not really getting any edge in the PPs and they are definitely there. I was screaming at my TV about the covered puck by Byfield. That said though, we got some divers on the team and I wonder if that is playing any role.
Clean house or bust

Have to say I'm lovin' Corey Perry.. another great game.. the guy has so much skill and puck IQ.. he does the sick toe drag that almost scores.. and then the behind the back pass in tight to Leon for a glorious shot on net.. all in close within 3 feet of the crease.. total Beaut.

It's funny the difference in just a few days. I always remember something MacTavish said mid-playoffs in 2006 though. Don't get too down on the losses or up on the wins. It was a great game, but that one is over and we need another like it tomorrow against a team that now has their backs to the wall. There's a reason that people always say the fourth is the toughest to win (just ask Toronto!)
The Kings will come out fighting for their lives...but we're the better team and if we can play like that again, then we should win. It would be great to just put this to bed now.

Bingo. We've seen a few of these dominant games in the past. The trick is doing it again the next game. It's hard. Very hard. If the team lets themselves think, "Oh, we got them now" we'll be right back to the first part of this series. LA is gonna be hungry, desperate and possibly a little ornery tomorrow night. How the Oilers handle the first period might tell us all we need to know about this club and if they've actually turned a corner or if they just caught lightning in a bottle for a few periods.

Pretty funny.. Debrusk can't pry the words out of his mouth saying Byfield put his hand on the puck.. in plain sight on the in the net replay.. he refuses to say it.. then teh usually fence sitting Sportsnet panel unanimously say it was absolutely hand on puck and should have been a penalty shot.. every one of them even Friedman.. can't explain it other than he and Jack have a deal for next year down south.

Hard to really judge performances because LA did so little in the game but knob maybe found a new pair he likes in Walman+Klingberg
The common pairs last night:
Bouch+Nurse 8:58 - 55.47% xGF
Bouch+Walman 5:00 - 61.58% xGF
Bouch+Kulak 3:24 - 89.13% xGF
Nurse+Kulak 8:34 - 68.91% xGF
Nurse+Klingberg 3:01 - 56.63% xGF
Walman+Klingberg 13:07 - 93.45% xGF
Kulak+Emberson 6:52 - 80.94% xGF
Seems we would also love to clone Kulak and be able to play one with Bouch and Nurse :).
Maybe if Stetcher can come back we could have
Kulak-Bouch
Nurse-Stetcher
Klingberg-Walman
And with Ekholm back if we are so fortunate
Ek-Bouch
Kulak-Nurse
Kling-Walman

It's actually kind of crazy how much the defence goes in to the line blender right now too. I don't remember seeing that before. Some of it is because they're not playing Emberson a lot - he's had less than 10 mins the last two games - but I do wonder if they have different units for different scenarios, or if it's just whoever Coffey decides to yell out in that moment.

McDavid out there most with Bouch and Nurse, and only 3 mins with Kulak, so guessing Bouch+Nurse was done for the offensive push. Kulak saw the most of Kempe with a mix of Nurse, Bouch, Emberson.
Playing 5 D must make it hard, especially if we really wanted lots of Walman+Klingberg. Then you have Kulak having to play with everyone else, but maybe Kulak time was being saved for the more defensive ice time.
Emberson with his 111 total career regular season+playoff games being used sparingly probably not too surprising. Definitely hope we can put in a more experienced guy soon.

Not surprising given this coach's abject terror of using young players. At some point the Oilers are going to have to get over their gerontophilia though. I'd like to see us actually try to use some younger guys more earlier in their career. It'll inject speed and energy and they'll be cheaper than fourth lines full of long-in-the-tooth vets.
That said, it's not likely to change for next game. I do hope that Emerson (and/or Stecher) can win over the coach here so that we actually play a full roster.

If that was a full 60 of playing hockey, I like that.
Tough, hard nosed, kept the pace and pressure. I loved every second of this game.
Also, I know nothing about the Oilers.. I had them out in 5. Thrilled to be wrong, keep proving how wrong I am about this team.
The very definition of insanity is doing the exact same thing expecting different results.
Generally Disappointed.
