Sigh...and only one (potentially 2) of them on a Fri or Sat when I could sleep in the next day.
Gotta love being an Oilers fan living in Atlantic Canada, right Mike?

I don't understand why the season didn't end on Tuesday so they could start everyone on the weekend to make it easier for people to, you know, watch the games. Doesn't seem like the league cares about that part of their marketing machine.

I like to book time off work just after Easter, all the kids have gone back to school so places are nice and quiet if I want to visit. However, it also means that next week I don't have to worry about being dog tired in work after getting up at 2 or 3am to watch the games.
If we get it done quickly I won't have to be tired at work for some time....
Take me home, country road
to the place where I belong
to Alberta, to see the Oilers
take me home, country road

This could be the toughest series against LA we have played. I fully expect to win but won't be a cake walk like last year. I'm thinking this goes 6 or 7 games

Pretty bummed we lost Ekholm to start the playoffs
McDrai and Skinner. Leave this to you fellows. We should still be able to beat the Kings if we get solid performances from key guys. The real hard stuff comes after the Kings.

On the Kings hfboards there is a lot of talk about targeting the known injuries on the Oilers players. I get that you want to play hard and finish checks, but I hate all the intent to injure talk that so many fans have, that seems to be pretty common now days. Makes me feel more justified for having never actually signed up there and left Oilfans as the only fan forum I post on.

I’m sure they also considered Nurse’s grazing stick across the back of Byfield’s helmet as attempted murder

Oh yeah, according to them someone should knock Nurse out of the league. In their eyes even McDavid is a dirty player. Not sure how the same people complain that these players are dirty and therefore should be injured. Doesn't that just make the Kings dirty players at that point?

I actually saw the replay of the Nurse "attempted murder" of Byfield for the 1st time during another game recently (turned the LA game off after the 1st) .. from what I had read I expected it to be a lot worse.. looked to me like Byfield really sold it.. you could tell the contact didn't have a lot of force.. there was an unnatural time delay from the contact, to Byfield grabbing his head and "writhing in pain" ..
For comparison, there was a cross check to the neck of J. Skinner by Tucker off a face-off during the St, Louis game that was deliberate and not in the heat of the moment.. that I thought was far worse than Nurse's and the guy didn't even get a phone call from the league.

Tons of disrespect for the Oilers to feed on. All the TSN and NHL Network talking heads have the Kings winning easy. Ignoring#3 and #5 on the all time Playoff PPG chart are suiting up for the Oilers.

That’s assuming the refs give us power plays. We’ll have to see how much “game management” goings ons.

Pretty funny, they actually brag about the con..
I tried to find out actual powerplay minutes (PP and PK) for each team.. you can find total penalty minutes for and against.. but some can be fights.. misconducts.. and off setting calls.. I wanted to see how much total time each team spent on the PP and PK .. better yet .. home and away as well.. but those numbers are nowhere to be found.. for me anyway... it should be easy to parse through it.. let me know if anyone else can find it somewhere.

Natural Stat trick has that data on the teams page;
https://www.naturalstattrick.com/teamtable.php?fromseason=20 242025&thruseason=20242025&stype=2&sit=pk&sc ore=all&rate=n&team=all&loc=B&gpf=410&fd =&td=
You can use the filters to see actual PP/PK mins, home/away, etc.
You can also look at game states, IE, winning, losing, up or down by one, etc.

Thanks! Its great.. you can even download CSV files !
Here's What I extracted.. I've got PK minutes (Total + Home + Away), PP minutes (Total + Home + Away),. PP Advantage (Total + Home + Away) .. with ranking for each category.. currently listed byn highest differential between PP differential at home - the PP differential on the road .. looks like the Leafs get the most PP advantage at home vs. when on the road.
LA Kings had 44 minutes more of PP advantage at home vs on the road..
Oilers had 11 more minutes at home vs. the road.
PK minutes (Ranked by Lowest) PP minutes (Ranked by Highest) PP Advantage Minutes

Kulak potentially out too due to his wife due to give birth. 3 of our top 6 D out. What could possibly go wrong?

And ekholm is 36 and his body breaking down could be seen coming from a mile away. It just boggles my mind that this team thought they could afford to let an up and coming guaranteed top 4 d man for the next decade plus walk for a second rounder. And then sign klinger for almost 2mil. Hard to overstate how badly the katz oilers have botched the completely underserved gift that is mcdrai.
Anyway hopefully 29 and 97 can work a few more miracles this spring.

Also why isn't Kane playing? At the deadline they couldn't figure out if they could spend his money because he was ready to play before the playoffs.. And now he isn't ready for game 1 but maybe game 2 after 10 months?
This seems to me like more oilers bumbling. Going way out of their way to make sure it doesn't look like they were circumventing instead of just bringing him back for the playoffs like other teams do.

I would say they are saving draft picks, Just cause the NHL never changes the rules for the Oilers

Avs did a 1 game hold off with Landeskog, so I guess it would be totally fair for us to bring back Kane now, if he is actually ready.

Friedman saying that the NHL is unofficially cracking down and wants detailed explanations from teams if the player doesn't play game 82 but wants to play R1G1. So the oilers felt they had to sit Kane out game 1 to make sure it looked legit.
In other news Tkachuk expected to play game 1 tonight for Florida.

Only had to send this gif via e-mail to get the league off their back about Tkachuk's groin injury
