Oh good. Ekholm is already down the tunnel after a collision.
Actually good: Bouchard scored.

Hahahaha... this defensive core is atrocious. Nurse gets completely bodied out of position, takes a puck off a terribly positioned skate and deflects it in. Awful.
This team is hopeless at keeping the puck out of the net.

Only you could take an unlucky bounce and make it sound like Nurse made some wild mistake. Nurse and the rest of the defence all stepped up when McDavid, Drai and Ek were out at the same. The better play by that group is one of the things that saved a free fall in the standings in the last few weeks.

Calling a spade a spade. You see one SMALL mistake and blow it out of proportion.
Aren't you the same guy who wanted Draisaitl traded, benched or otherwise cast into the sea earlier this year?

Nurse is a middle of the road Dman getting paid like one of the best in the league. He can and should be able to do more, and he just doesn't.
And that Draisaitl thing that you and I disagreed on was like two seasons ago, when Drai was an absolute liability defensively. He's developed his game, clearly, since then. I told you back then that I was a big fan of his, however felt he had a lot more to give defensively. History has proven that perspective correct.

You are moving the goal posts. If you had said Nurse was a middle of the road player like you did in this post, I would disagree but it is a reasonable position to take. You use words like terrible, awful, tire fire, etc a lot, especially in the GDT.
Maybe it is emotion driven hyperbole but it is a long ways from "Nurse is a middle of the road Dman getting paid like one of the best in the league. "
To that comment specifically. I think Nurse is overpaid but that isn't his fault. If you give me his contract, I dont lose 25 years of age and gain 900% more ability.
Taking his contract out, I see him as a really good but not great defenseman that when leaned on too much can be exploited. More of the bottom half of a top pair that a true number one. As the leader of a second paid he has been good for the most part this year.
As for Drai, you have a selective memory trying to make "History has proven that perspective correct." true
I am 99% sure that was this past November. Yes, you said you were a big fan of his but you spent a lot of posts calling on him for more than defensive play. Again, perhaps emotional exaggeration but it was not a reasonable take.
Much like this time, when called out, you got defensive and wanted to paint me as the bad guy. I am ok with that, I dont pretend to sugar coat things, but if your feelings are hurt that easy maybe it is a third case of your emotions getting in the way of reasonable discourse.
ETA; I didnt read that article before replying. It wouldn't change my opinion on Nurse. I opened it after replying and I still havn't read it. I saw who wrote it, laughed and closed it. There will be very little there of useful analysis. Most of the posters here have more hockey knowledge.

Though I'm not in denial that the defense isn't good. Having a goalie that can bail us out and make a half decent save wouldn't hurt either. I mean we have kept this team to 12 friggin shots, and somehow it's tied. The first goal pickard let up I guarantee I would save that.

Nurse was a tire fire over and over again at the end of the second period. Getting victimized again and again because he doesn't play smart.
Nurse is falling back into bad habits.

He's not worth his contract I'll say that much, but he's still a heck of a player
With that said. This is embarrassing. Ducks have beat us three times this year
Sharks play us tough every time. We definitely play to our opponents level

...yeah, unlucky. However, the Cult of Hockey guys actually looked into OILERS own goals. Our Nursey was involved in a way more of those than anyone else on the team. Maybe because he plays a lot but maybe it is because, despite his size, that he is poor at positioning himself while, unsuccessfully, trying to clear the front. ...for what it's worth.
...this time, it's for real (isn't it?).

Omg. Just saw that Ekholm left after a couple shifts and now Hyman hurt. This season is cursed.

My oldest hockey pet peeve is fans yelling shoooooot on the power play when the professional hockey players have all the time in the world to set up the shot they want.
