The Oil Kings beat PA last night to go up 3-1 in their first round series last night. Should the Oil Kings close out the Raiders it means we'll get what should be a fantastic second round series with Gavin McKenna and the Medicine Hat Tigers. I strongly recommend going to these games if at all possible. Gavin has been playing out of this world in the playoffs.. and with the new college rules in the State he might not come back next year.

Series is far from over. It's coming back to Edmonton.

I thought the Raider looked really bad last night. I'm not saying they can't win, but my goodness did they cough up a lot of pucks in the D zone.

They have looked off all series. Oil Kings are much bigger, and Mrsic is hurt. He drives all of PA's offence. Plus bringing in a new coach this late in the season may have been a bad decision. The team basically pushed out the old coach and they were refusing to play for Truitt, but the timing was horrible. Probably should have been done in December when these rumblings first arose. Rumour has it that Manson will be going in as assistant again next year.

Also, is anyone else sick of the after the whistle scrums where players do not drop their sticks and are flinging them around wildly?

I don't know why McKenna would go play in the NCAA for one season for half the number of games.. he'll be playing NHL in year one.. 2026-2027 season.

He's a generational talent.. everyone should go see him play in the dub if they can..

He's already going one or two in the draft. So why play a full WHL schedule plus playoffs riding the bus out of Medicine Hat when he could go to, let's say Ann Arbor, and get NIL money? I'm not saying it will happen, but I did make a point of seeing him in Edmonton just in case. I was kind of surprised Medicine Hat wasn't awarded the Mem Cup next year for this reason alone.

I think he gets more game/ice time.. and closer to an NHL type schedule.. including travel.. he'd be more prepped for an NHL season IMHO

He'd waste half his season getting adjusted to a new city, environment, teammates, coaches..

.. and who wouldn't mind the opportunity winning a Memorial Cup :)

I heard rumblings that Europe might be an option for next season. Million dollar reason to go the Matthews route.

Holy crap.. Everitt and Seattle are in the 5th OT!

O-O .. Zero goals.. must be close to a record.. goalie saves .. 45 Everit v. 55 Seattle

Update;

Game ends at 13:43 in the 5th OT ..
Everett wins..

Everett shots against 48
Seattle shots against 58

Side note: game in Seattle.. neither Goalie was chosen as one of the 3 stars.. all stars were from Seattle.. who lost.. now that is a homer star selection!

It's incredible and free. I am guessing they will require a subscription for next year. Just giving us a free taste.

I'm kind of bummed I don't get to watch McKenna come to Edmonton for a couple playoffs games this year, but I suspect PA will enjoy the second round more the we would here.

Strong recommend for those in the Edmonton area to check out Jeremy Loranger in Sherwood Park when they play second round home games against Penticton next week or the week after (round 2 schedule hasn't been announced yet). Dude won the BCHL scoring title as a 17 year by 20 points over his teammate Kale Dach, who is also pretty good. He's absolutely electric with the puck, scored 3 game winners against Salmon Arm in round 1.

looks like Loranger is from TR PQ.. eligible for 2025 draft.. heading to NCAA Nebraska-Omaha next year.. currently ranked #149 in central scouting for NA skaters.. might be available for Oilers.. he's only listed at 5'-8" though.. must be speedy?

Kale is 5'-11" .. (NOT related to Kirby and Colton.. despite being from Fort Saskie .. odd ?) also eligible for the 2025 draft.. might be heading to NCAA Penn State next year... currently ranked #154 in central scouting for NA skaters..
