When you have Drai you always have a chance :). Two sweet goals, just clean beating Wolf squared up to him. And of course set up Arvidsson for the first one.

Pickard made some great saves too to not allow the lames to get any distance on us.

That's the kind of play that can make some playoff noise. Good enough goaltending, limited mistakes, enough sandpaper to keep the Flames on their heels, top guys leading, role players contributing.

Always good to beat the Flames but given the frustration since the 4 nations break this one seemed sweeter.

Leon is MVP material. I couldn’t imagine where this team would be without him.

If he was out more then two months we would probably have awesome odds in the Draft Lottery.

Notice after a few game where the refs call it down the middle, Leon comes back and the PP’s disappear. Game management is real.

Noticed same thing.. once it was known that the Oilers power play was next to useless.. refs all of a sudden were free to start calling the actual infractions against the opposition.. which proves they aren't "missing" the calls .. just "refusing" to make the calls in an effort to manage/impact the score by way of penalty calls.. reasons for it could be multiple.

The fact this league is so deep up to their necks in the gambling industry it's a surprise no one has investigated and/or made an issue of the infraction standard consistency and its effect on betting outcomes.

Doesn't help that the NHL broadcast holders are instructed not to criticize/question the ref calls with risk of losing future rights retention.. and/or replacement of on air pundits

If the NFL experienced this inconsistency in infraction calls, the entire broadcast and podcast industry would be calling it out.

I notice the same thing every year. The Oilers get jobbed the first 10 games or so, get relatively fair refereeing (on and off, mind you) until early January, then as the end of January comes, they get more and more 1 powerplay games…. leading to a number of zero PP games as you get into March (during this period the opposition usually still gets 3 to 6 per game). NHL is so corrupt …. but then again the 80’s Oilers were just so good relative to the rest of the league, they simply overcame the biased game management ( those series vs the Bruins were ridiculous with the tackling/hooking/holding/etc that Boston used to get away with).

Looks like licking the NHL's boots has paid off.. announced that Rogers signed a new 12 year $7.7B TV deal.. it looks like the "NHL Channel" for another 12 years.. The Brand is, and always will be top priority.

What the hell? Sportsnet can't afford their current deal.

Dang, I was hoping for TSN. When I'm watching OOT games on ESPN+ down here, I'm shocked in the difference in quality between TSN and Sportsnet.

Me too.. I like TSN .. first rate.. better pundits.. better vibe.. more authentic.. plus they own the HNIC theme song!

Rogers is too big.. owns the Jays.. the Leafs.. even the Raptors.. broadcasters owning sports franchises is a conflict.. they just bought Shaw out West here as well.. own half the cable.. plus half mobility.. time to break the Eastern conglomerate up.. its negatively affecting the consumer market place.. still can't believe the CRTC allowed rogers to buy Shaw.. but then the CRTC is run by central Canada government .. so really shouldn't be surprised.

It also explains something I noticed recently where whenever during a Leafs game an infraction on Leaf is missed, or a an infraction by a Leaf is weak.. Simpson will pipe up about it and actually call it out during the broadcast.. then compare that when DeBrusk calls an Oiler game.. you see inevitable missed call.. and/or the ghost call on an Oiler.. and not one discouraging word comes out of DeBrusk.. everyone at home knows they saw the same thing he did .. and zero comment.. so afraid to upset the NHL.. can't understand the reason he ignores it.. looking to get out of the Oiler games and going for a future national gig? Maybe Rogers tells the NHL their man Simpson can say what he wants regarding Leaf infractions.. Anyway the difference in criticism level between the two broadcasts is noticeable.
