I remember when Jackson arrived and made all those signings keeping all the vets and adding Arvidsson and J. Skinner.. I thought wow! this guy is gold! .. didn't realize it meant losing Broberg and Holloway (and probably neither did he.. which is his failing) .. even then Bowman could have kept them by matching.. just meant unloading some guys.. a very hard task.. but doable.. then they have to use a first rounder to get Walman to fill a hole that Broberg would likely have filled.

.. Now imagine what you'd have to trade back to get either of Holloway or Broberg.. a first round plus and a good player.. minimum.. Holloway with 2 more goals last night.. in 71 games he's at 26G + 36A = 62pts and a healthy +20 .. he's second in scoring on St. Louis.. he's going to be a star.. in only 61 games Broberg with 8G + 19A = 27 pts with top +- on team at +21 ..

Holloway has same goals as McDavid.. he'd be 3rd in scoring on the Oilers.. and his +- would be 2nd best on the Oilers..

The handling of both Broberg and Holloway.. and the decision making on those offer sheets.. has to be one the Oilers biggest historical blunders.. not sure how they recover from it in the off season..

First thing is write McDavid a blank cheque and hope he signs it.. take it from there.
