No Cups

What can you say about the play of Bouchard that hasn't already been said. I don't know how to explain his game any more.

How are the islanders so bad while having Sorokin? They should send him our way this summer and do a proper tank job.

Bouchard has had a good game so far. He broke up the zone exit, then made the play to move the puck forward that started the sequence leading to the goal.

He has had some down games and some REALLY ugly moments. It is amazing how some here will bend over backwards to blame him regardless. Bouchard could miss a game and some would swear he had 5 giveaways that cost the game.

Saw some giveaway per possession stats (can’t find it so everyone just has to take my word for it lol), but he was actually one of the better players in the league in that respect. He is depended on to play the puck more than anyone else aside from McDavid, but of course it’s hard for people that dislike him to give him credit for his dozens of good passes every night to start the transition.

That said he has definitely not been his best this year. And the chance for any mistake he makes to turn into goals is high this year season he plays against the best opposition most nights and our goaltending has been weak almost the entire year. It’s a tough combo to always be out on the ice for, along with being so relied on to make plays out of our zone.

Ugh. This team is just max pain to follow this year. Accounting for expectations I mean. Obviously can be worse teams to cheer for :)

Very balanced take!
Even his biggest defenders (Me, myself and I) cant ignore the giveaways. Like the stat you posted, he looks worse given the amount he makes plays, and his mistakes seem to end up in a high end chance too often.
Almost every stat shows he is an effective player that has a positive impact on the game more often than not.
The rhetoric about how he is useless, should be cut loose and not resigned, traded for a pylon gets old. It makes the Oilers fan base look uninformed and low on the hockey knowledge scale.
