Bouchard single handedly costing us 2 points with a typical piss poor effort on the third goal. When negotiating his next contract and his agent brings up “point comparables” the Oilers mgmt needs to show a clip reel of every defensive miscue and brain dead play he’s made the last couple of years
A dmans #1 job is to play DEFENCE! Puttiing up popcorn numbers on a good PP doesn’t cut it. Shouldn’t get a dime more than $7M/yr IMO and that might be being generous

He's caught because another oil makes a dumb pass backwards and ends up with 2 of Buffalo's quickest players having a step on him chasing a puck. Gets his stick 2 hand slashed as he tries to play the puck, which probably would have been a penalty if an Oiler did it. Podz lets up skating which costs him being able to be on top of Thompson.
I dunno, I think Bouch was in a tough spot there no matter how you slice it. The real issue on that play was the dumb pass in the offensive end and Podz just quitting. Speaking of Podz, guy has really been lost for a couple months now. Had high hopes for him, but he looks kinda like a version of low confidence Puljujarvi these days. But keeps getting top 6 opportunities.
Not to say Bouch has been great this year. He's still no where near what he showed last playoffs. He's probably trending now towards looking for a 1 or 2 year deal to try again, depending how playoffs go. Could be in trouble if he goes to arbitration because his numbers are still very good to argue with. If he does perform well in playoffs again and we let negotiations drag into the summer, could be looking at a potential fun time with an offersheet again.

I disagree, rewatching it multiple times…he doesn’t get on his horse getting back - gets beat and then only has one hand on his stick trying to defend. Sure maybe he wasn’t put in the best position but that was a play he should have been able to defend imo
