So... more of the same today? Or did the team remember that they're veteran professional hockey players and that this weak sauce isn't acceptable?
Skinner, make the saves you're supposed to make. Bouchard, please screw your brain into the right socket today and make the smart play, not the super risky lackadaisical play that immediately ends up in out net. Knob, stop overthinking things and put our most productive 5v5 forward in the lineup.
And McDavid... find something, anything at all, that motivates you to play these games still. Dude has been cruising and looks like a shadow of himself. This is easily the least impactful season we've seen from him.

Do we ever suck lately. Aside from Draisaitl, Savoie and weirdly Nurse, this team is looking like hot garbage. Time to wake up. They need some extra motivation.

If we are gonna show a little pride and make up for 3 games of terrible effort after the break, this would be the same to do it.
Pretty sad if we just roll over in this one too.

Sigh...no Jeff Skinner again. I don't get it. We're struggling to score, yet we're benching our most consistent goal scorer (outside of Drai)?
Is it a plan to annoy him to the point where he agrees to waive that NMC? That's the only reason I can think of.
edit: Huh, now Skinner is in per Fat Bob and the Oilers FB post with the line up seems to have been deleted

Not sure where you're seeing Skinner is out. Oilers website has Skinner in and on a line with Draisaitl (Savoie out).
Nurse also out with undisclosed injury.
Nugent-Hopkins - McDavid - Hyman
Skinner - Draisaitl - Arvidsson
Janmark - Henrique - Brown
Podkolzin - Kapanen - Perry
Ekholm - Bouchard
Stecher - Emberson
Kulak - Klingberg
Skinner
Pickard
Edit: never mind, just saw your correction.

That's about as good as our forward lines can get with our current personnel I think.
Nuge is far better off on the wing than centering the 3rd line.

IMHO the Oil have lost some team speed since last season.. I rank these as the slower of the pokes..
J Skinner
Arvidsson
Henrique
Kapanen
RNH
Perry
Bouchard
Emberson
Stecher
Could use speed upgrades in a lot of places

Kapanen is the opposite of slow. Not McD fast, but is very fast when he decides to skate.
Puck management at time is terrible though.

You might be right.. Kapanen hasn't had a ton of ice time.. so not a lot to base an opinion on.. but when he is on.. I haven't noticed the speed.. he doesn't seem to be blazing in on the fore check.. so it might just be he has the speed but doesn't bother to utilize it often.. contrarily.. Savoie has barely played and I notice his speed already

I thought that McDavid was fighting the flu when he was at the end of the 4Nations.. hopefully he's recovered a bit and he might be stronger tonight..
