Interesting to hear the Rangers thinking of trading these guys - although maybe not surprising since if not for Trouba's NMC, he would have got moved this past summer. Trouba would be a pretty decent right shot defenceman. Not a perfect player but he does add an interesting element.
Kreider is a great scoring winger and would be an upgrade for sure.
Of course, the cap probably makes this almost impossible for the Oilers to do - the cap hits for these guys are $8MMx2 years for Trouba and $6.5MMx3 years for Kreider and it's hard to see the Oilers being able to clear enough cap in a deal to take on that much salary, even if the Rangers retained a significant amount.
Either might be a decent target on their own though - especially if we could manage some retention, possibly using a third team to help.

Nurse+Nuge for Trouba+Kreider? :) Think the money works out almost perfectly.

Trouba's not a Nurse upgrade though.
They get virtually the same TOI, THis year Nurse is +6, Trouba's -5 (our goaltending's been worse too and NYR has a better record than us). Lifetime Trouba has about 50 more assists than Nurse and played 110 more games, but gets PP time, so grain of salt.
If we made that deal, Trouba would just become the new whipping boy.
I do like his game overall and think, if we'd get a 3rd team' taking Trouba at 2 mil (rangers retain 4 and 3rd team retains 2) he's easily a great addition as our 5/6 dman.

Think 80% of the benefit of the trade would be Nurse's contract off the books. His play goes up and down and all around too, so I wouldn't go too crazy comparing just this season. Both guys can have good runs, both can be awful. Wasn't long ago that Nurse was on pace to set the record for minus in a playoff year, until a minor miracle pair with Kulak was pulled out of Knob's rear and then all hockey gods combined their powers together to bless the nurse/broberg pair for the finals.
Krieder would be a nice add up front. Pure goal scorer and happy to run over goalies when he's not scoring. Trouba taking heads off would be fun too. I bet he would do fine with Kulak. We would need a LHD for the 3rd pair.
It's all a dream though :) Doubt Trouba would come here, and doubt Nurse would waive his NMC. Other 2 guys probably wouldn't be interested too.

I’m thinking after getting their butts handed to them by the Sabres last night, I believe more change is coming for the Rangers.
Kreider should be a guy we look hard to acquire. I think Drury is vulnerable to a bit of a knee jerk reaction right now. I also believe they are looking for toughness that can play regular shifts. I believe they would have decent valuuation in Evander Kane after his March 1st NMC becomes a NTC for half the league. I would imagine the Rangers are not on his NTC. Kreider is big, skates decently, kills penalties & can obviously score.
Not really sure what Rangers want for Kreider, but they definitely want to get ride of the contract which is at $6.5 M for this season and 2 more. Kane is at $5.125 M for one more season after this one which would help NY with cap space moving forward.
My trade proposal is…
Kreider
For
Kane, 2 x 2nd rd picks (2025 & 2027) + a B prospect (Akey or Nichol?)
Cap hit difference for us is $1.25 M this year. Again, not sure what NY is looking for Kreider but I would be inquiring heavily.

To add more context to Kane moving out…..If NY is thinking they r missing the playoffs, which looks more and more likely, then not having Kane availed this season would be fine for them. With Capitals having Wilson, this might be an area that NY wants to focus on.
