| Skookum Jim wrote on Sun, 02 February 2025 23:46 | Question.. why are off-sides "reviewable" down to a millimeter (and the "on-side" call is in fact able to be retracted after the play) .. as well as; faceoffs, icings, high-sticks with even a drop of blood, are able to be called to the extreme letter of the rule book on a consistent basis.. yet.. interference, slew foots, hooking, slashing, cross checks, are OK to be a discretionary matter left to the referee's individual opinion.. which consistently varies (wildly) depending on the particular moment within a single game (and also game to game).. the particular team.. and/or particular player receiving or causing the infraction?
These on-ice officials have the ability to make the calls consistently to the rulebook, they prove they can with the other calls they routinely make, which happen to be less impactful on the game, so why can't they use that ability to make the calls (hooking, interference, slew foots) that actually impact the game/score to the same level .. on a consistent basis ?
.. scratch that.. I think I might have answered my own question!

Lol. Glad you worked through it
Also Vegas lost. Excellent. Still first

Vegas giving us a nice gift with some bad play the last few weeks. Bummer we refuse to take full advantage of it. Although, can't look away from how the "gift" of first in our division would be Colorado in the first round right now.
