Goalied bad
Let in 1 too many trash goals. Caps are this years PDO kings

Bouchard was a tire fire in this one. I hope Klingberg has a lot left in the tank and shows the squad what a legit #1 Dman looks like. Bouchard should have been benched a few times for his play.
Need something from Nuge eventually as well, sometime this year...
Both Skinners were pretty abysmal as well. Stu's going to flirt with .900 for his yearly stat. Not good enough for a starting goaltender on a contending team. Makes me shudder to ponder what his stats would look like on a legitimately bad team.
It was a decent effort, but the push for offense is wildly anemic if 97 and 29, or lately 33, aren't driving it.

I gotta feeling the Klingberg + Ekholm pair will eventually evolve to be the 1st pair.. and Klinger might take over PP1 QB..

Zero chance. That's just typical Oilers fan habits of hating on the offensive blueliner.
Bouchard didn't have his best game tonight but he's still the best defenceman on the team. He's not getting replaced by a 30-something guy who's always been soft on zone entries, and missed almost all last year after a major surgery.
Stuart Skinner wears the goat horns tonight. First goal is a bad giveaway by Arvidsson, and a tough stop to make, and the third is a rebound off a goal post. Again, tough to stop, but A) the guy at the other end made a bunch of hard saves, and B) that second goal was awful. Went right through him. YOu're not going to win a lot of games with sub .800 goaltending.

Losing McDavid and the drama going on with that crap and I think the team is still tired. Not sure why but I went expecting a win against a good caps team
With that said we can't just losing 3 or 4 games in a row. I really want first place. Need to get a damn win

I foresee the opposite.
Klingberg may be a useful player. Tough know if he can be effective. At best I expect he can be able to move up and down the right side as needed but will mostly be 5-7th on the depth chart.
I also predict his defensive abilities will make Bouchard look like a shut a down D in comparison.

I am not certain of this but it seems to me that the second goal was deflected off of the Oilers forwards stick. The shot is clearly off the ice on the way to the net and then slides along the ice under Skinners pad. I think he read the shot as going high to his right off of Roy's shot and then the deflection makes it stay low and to Skinner's left. I'm not saying that to totally absolve him of the goal as if it is true he is overplaying the shot to the point that he can't stop his momentum (up and right) to make the save.
I also feel like it was the zapruder film with the number of times I rewatched that clip (up and to the right). I think I need Kevin Costner to play me in the movie.

Skinner is just too inconsistent. When he's on he is great, but let's not act like we lost last night for any other reason. We out played Washington through and through. Skinner makes even one of those saves we win.

I mean when you severely outshot the Caps and you still lose.. it's just hockey.
Bouchard was challenged last night as was Nurse with penalties (that said Nurse is not a concern at all), I thought Jeff Skinner showed up pretty good, but I do see that lack of work in some areas of his game.
Tough night but the Thompson deserved the win.
The very definition of insanity is doing the exact same thing expecting different results.
Generally Disappointed.

I sometimes wonder if the Skinner critics watch the game or just the boxscores. No goalie had a chance on goals #1 or #3 and #2, well, hard to stop a shot if you never see it. Meanwhile at the other end, our shooters kept hitting Thompson. Despite facing twice the number of shots, I wouldn't exactly say we were "goalied" in that game. More like our shooters failed us.
