Fabbro is on waivers in Nashville. Seems like a no brainer to make a claim here.

2.5M and has been declining in on ice performance the last few years. Maybe a team like San Jose makes sense.

Ya, there is a reason he is only making 2.5, on a year deal and on waivers. He just isnt that good.
I havent watched enough of him to have a full sense of his play so he might be an improvement but I doubt the Oilers will pick him up. They have enough money and roster spots in tied up on the blue line as it is.

His analytics look good. If he improves the right side, take the flyer and trade him at the deadline if you find a better option.

What did you see? I took an, admittedly, really quick look and saw declining usage year over year alongside both offensive and defensive numbers that looked uninspired.
If the Oilers are picking up a guy, specifically because he is right handed, I would really like to be at least good on one end of the ice.

People smarter than me think his skillset will complement Nurse, which really is the issue with the Oilers defense.

Kulak-Emberson are pushing play the right way, and for Emberson the results will come as long as that continues. Ekholm-Bouch we know it’s a top pairing. We have to solve the Nurse problem.

Thanks for that link.
I see where you saw some potential in those numbers. A lot of the "must-haves" on my checklist look good. D-zone retrievals, zone exits and entry prevention to name a few.

You (and those smarter than both of us!) have me sold that he could help.

My next concern. Claiming him would pull us into the LTIR cap space from Kane. Does that fully stop us from accruing extra space down the road? Would this claim handcuff us from making other moves with out the dreaded "dollar in, dollar out" excuse?

Can’t believe I swung someone! That’s gotta be a first.

It would stop us from accruing yes. Because we’d only be going a little more 1 million over the cap, I think therr would still be space left in LTIR if they have the balls to leave Kane there until the playoffs.

And Columbus claims him, so we’ll never know if the Oilers made a claim.

What do people think of Matt Benning's advanced stats? does a reunion make sense for us? we could use some of that muscle. He can't make our PK worse. 1.25 mil per season this year and next.
