Both D-men.. a little bit bigger (6'-3" vs. 6'-1") and little heavier (207 lbs vs. 190 lbs) .. about the same pts. in the AHL ... 1 year younger (25).. 3rd rounder (#72 overall) .. Gleason never drafted..
Gleason is a Lefty and Attard is Right handed.. that by itself is a bonus.. but the big factor is skating.. Gleason is pretty mobile.. no idea on Attard.
McDAVID! Oh YEAH Baby!!
Tic-Tac-Tao!
Keep on Rockin' in the Free World
P. Chiarelli math.. T. Hall = A. Larsson, Yak= bag o'pucks (OK he got one right...) K. Russell = $4.1 M+NMC, G. Reinhart= M. Barzal + A. Beauvillier, J. Eberle = R. Spooner,

In a cruder world, Gene gets another easy name to get the puns going with.
"We need to get better immediately. That starts today"
- Lowe, 2013
"Next year I would forecast as another developmental year"
- MacT, 2015
5 x $5,000,000

The Oilers must see him as a guy who could potentially play in the NHL because otherwise this doesn't make a lot of sense. Here's the defencemen who've played for the Condors so far this year:
Connor Carrick - Shoots Right - 7 games/5 pts
Ben Gleason - Shoots Left - 7 games/4 pts
Cam Dineen - Shoots Left - 5 games/2 points
Noel Hoefenmayer - Shoots Left - 4 games/2 pts
Max Wanner - Shoots Right - 8 games/1 pt
Phil Kemp - Shoots Right - 8 games/1 pt
Alex Kannok-Leipert - Shoots Right - 8 games/1 pt
Josh Brown - Shoots Right - 7 games/0 pts
By my math, that means in the bulk of games this year they've played with at least four righties, and we just traded the only LHD to play in most games.

This might also solve some of the mystery:

Attard can shoot the pill. Double-digit goals in each of the last 2 seasons in the AHL.
6'3" Right-Shot D.
Has some upside.
He also is NOT considered an AHL Veteran.
Alleviates the
@Condors
logjam with Veterans...
