Agree...while it's nice to have someone not just take off to cottage country he's kind of got his priority list upside down. Doing #3 first I get (Skinner), but all the others could have waited.
1. Draisaitl extension
2. Young RFAs that can contribute
3. Big UFAs other teams are after
4. Older short term UFAs
Oh well...better than what we've had for over a decade.

Ya sorry, you're completely wrong on this. We've had a week turnaround since the season ended...Draisaitl is gonna take a couple weeks to process things, RFA's can be signed all the way until training camp. UFA's fly off the board fastest and once they're gone, they're gone
I"m actually super pleased JJ had the foresight to realize that you can be 10% over the cap (8.8 mil) in the offseason and try to figure out the rest later. Instead of someone like Holland who would throw his hands up and say well we don't have the cap space to keep this guys right now and let them walk

You have to think that Kane is going on LTIR or something. All these forwards coming in, there wouldn't be a place for him anymore. If Ceci's money got freed up you would think it has to go to another defender.

I love all the forward moves.. but our defense is still a weak link.. Nurse, Ceci, still liabilities.. @ $13M cap hit.. lost Desharnais.. we have Bouchard, Ekholm, Broberg, and Kulak as dependable defensemen.. Ceci and Nurse still questions.. and have been for a while..

Broberg is a RFA, but I get your point.
Picking a D man up at the deadline is the better option in my opinion. Put Kane on LTIR. Maybe they try to waive Ceci or pay someone to take him later.
