Great game by him, especially in the first. But stay the F in your net!🥅
Connor up to 42 points. Friedman finally said it - win or lose, at this point does he become the first skater on a losing team to win the Conn Smythe since Leach. IMO he has to. 42 points is nuts.

I'm starting to buy into the idea that Skinner plays better later in the series - he's been great since game 3.

All we needed to do was score more than them. A scruffy win, but who cares. The last game showed we could be them, this one shows we can beat them at home!! If and it's a huge IF we take it back down to Florida we've got that monkey off our backs now.
Words are starting to fail me to describe how good McDavid is. Gretz is the Great One, the GOAT. Mario was a better hockey player and could have gone passed Gretz, but I think in McDavid we are seeing the greatest complete hockey player ever better than both of them. What a game he had tonight, in the past him and Leon have put the team on their backs, tonight McDavid had Leon and the team on his back and dragged us through.
Game 6 is going to be crazy, if we thought Rogers was loud in the last game, this could be even louder.

The Panthers are completely rattled. Their GM looks like he started the miami style party a bit early.
If they can somehow pull this off I can't decide what would be better - watching the Oilers raise the cup or watching the Panthers choke it away.

He certainly looks like it, he looks like the Leon who played against the Avs after the ankle injury. I don't think the ice in Florida helped either tonight, lots of players losing edges and the last thing you want to do when injured is add to it significantly and Leon looked tentative all night. Still 3 days to rest, back to the Oilers medical department and away we go again on Friday.

Well yeah - I think he's playing with a laundry list of injuries. Hopefully can push though for 2 more games and come up with a big play or two.

Looks to me like a hand/wrist/shoulder thing. His skating looks ok, but his stick handling is horrible. He can’t hold onto the puck or make his usual great passes.

I wouldn't be surprised if he has a rib, foot and hand injury. He looks like he can barely skate. He can barely shoot and pass. And just laboring in everything he does physically.
Sucks, that Canucks series took a lot out of some guys. Thankfully we still have some horses that can bring near their best every night still.

Our bottom six and rookies out of nowhere. Exactly what you need in a deep playoff run with the top guys slow battered into walking wounded.

To be fair, you can't really judge anyone on stickhandling in that swamp in Miami. That's just dreadful ice...almost as bad as some of the refereeing!
Draisaitl is likely foremost among our walking wounded, but he's got an extra couple days to rest up now...that's the one benefit of this drawn out series! I think we're more banged up than them, so the rest is pretty critical.
It's going to be INSANE in Rogers on Friday...

Agreed, but he’s not been good in the games in Edmonton either. It’s really noticeable on the power play when Florida is pressuring him as he’s trying to enter the zone, or when he has the puck on the half boards. He struggles to move the puck quickly and to hang onto it when he’s stickhandling. You can definitely see that he’s not 100%.

Drai's been pretty bad in every game this series, and looked pretty injured against Dallas too. 7 points in 11 games, 2 in the last 5 games is not at all normal playoff Draisaitl. And he very visibly is labouring out there, and making loads of weak telegraphed plays. His shot is just gone on the powerplay.
Hope he can get injected with stuff to get a boost and make it through 2 more games!

That's the kinda thing that would blow the doors open for the final cup win. We're doing all this with Drai's line totally hobbled. Getting 2 line attack back, plus powerplay clicking again ends it.

Actually I'm thinking it would be an easy ploy for a team that wants to hobble a playmaking team.. and slow it down to a greasy checking game.. just allow the building humidity and/or ice temperature to rise enough to mushen up the ice.. specifically to limit a team with a high skill powerplay..
The NHL is supposed to have ice system techs that go to the arenas looking at the ice quality.. but I wonder how closely they can look at it..

Anyone notice 16 in red floating back on the Brown shorty? Just brutal effort level - if that was an Oiler he'd be getting lit up for that effort. Most over rated player in the league.

Impossible - all of Barkov, Bennett, and Luostarinen were declared dead in the Panthers locker room. Nothing short of a miracle for any of them to be there.

Anyone who’s ever had an injured back has to admire how amazing he’s played since being hurt. No one better to play in front of him. 2 1/2 days rest, some good drugs, dry needling and a massages. Just need to fight through two more games and then enjoy your summer.

What a game. Love seeing us light up Bad Bobo again. So much chaos in our zone but we survived, largely thanks to Skinner.
Looks like Florida badly wants to try to kill us at the start of games and they kind of tail off as the game goes on. Still always opportunistic though. We can't make bad plays in our end and give them gifts. Keep surviving the early push and we have a great chance every game.

I hate giving him any kind of credit for anything, but what a play by Tkachuk to save that goal at the end even though McDavid popped it in right after. He had a helluva game. Let’s not let him have another like that.
