Solid game
Pretty much all lineup changes paid off. And Dallas wasn't doing anything to consistently expose us.
Hope the Oil have a couple more games like that in them

Nurses best game of the playoffs I'd say. Where the hell has this game been?
29 looking dominant again.
Big for Skinner to shut the door after the first two early ones thats a massive confidence boost.
The building sounded crazy at the end. Chance to eliminate them at home in a few days..

Some guys just need a shock to the system to be motivated, or pull their head outta their bucket and see what reality is.

Gritty, ugly and effective. Skinner knuckled down thankfully, Nurse decided to play hit a Star, but for me I think that was Connor Brown's best game in an Oilers jersey. He seems to be getting quicker by the game, confidence is growing and he's playing his role so well.

Broberg didn’t look out of place. Looked better than Vinny and Ceci have the last few games IMO.
Brown looking pretty good.
McLeod finishing some checks and going to the net. And gets rewarded. Good game by him.
Skinner still freaks me out. Glad to see him bounce back after those first 2.

Nurse made a lot of angry hits tonight. Where was that guy the last few years? Refs were fine with it. He just watched every Canucks D doing that to McDavid and Drai every game with it let go. Keep it up Nursey

He was pretty mean at times. That’s the Nurse they need.
Brown still has the dawg in him. I wasn’t sure about inserting Perry, but have no complaints. A lot of Skinner concern early in the GDT.
What a second period. Good times!

Showed up for 50 minutes, it's an improvement.
Dallas knows they will have to make another flight up to Edmonton, so time to wear them down in game 5.
Ok, I gotta complain about the boarding on Bouch that wasn't called at the end there. Glad to see Perry work over the refs.

Amazing what can happen when you don't just sit back hey?
Well deserved win. Refs were awful, but got it done in spite of them. Holy crap where did this PK come from? Imagine if we got more than 1 PP a game..
Credit to Nurse. He's been awful this series but he was solid tonight. Great bounceback by Stu too.

Win for my wife in the ICU.
Win for our boys in a crucial game 4.

Janmark makes a difference.. solid .. consistent .. smart effort every game
Broberg is solid.. what a game from a guy that hasn't played for 2 months.. awesome.. a revelation.
Such a difference when your D man can out-skate trouble.. carry it up and make plays out out your zone using his wheels and stick handling.. your forwards can think ahead and not be scared every time your D man handles the puck he'll cough it up.. smart player.. good stick.. seemed to handle the physicality and defensive positioning just fine.. looked better than Nurse.. Bakersfield was good for him..
Foegle, Desharnais, Carrick can keep eating popcorn upstairs ..
Perry just creates chances.. and awesome at puck possession.. super hi puck IQ .. doesn't have the wheels anymore.. but he's rarely if ever on the wrong side of the puck.
Foegle.. plodding.. hands of stone.. needs to be coaxed to finish checks.. blah.
Vinnie ? His mobility is too much of a liability.. he can stay out.. Dallas was picking on him.. as with Nurse.. but .. can't start playing Broberg 20 min. right off the start.. tonight Nurse played 19:19 m and Broberg 14.:21 .. Ceci 17:21
It sure seemed like every time there was a fire drill in the Oil zone #25 was on the ice.. he just doesn't seem to be able to break up cycles anymore.. ?
Carrick is who he is.. he gives it 100% .. but there are better. available right now.
McLeod still has a lot of work to do.. he was better (as you'd hopefully expect) .. but still swooping fly-by's on the forecheck.. he could cause a lot of chaos in the opposition zone with turnovers if he'd
only engage.. even a stick check.. but not a fly-by..
best of 3!

Respect to the BroBeast. Most poised I've seen him in the NHL, in the toughest situation he could imagine. Skated well, made simple plays. What we need back there.
Kulak also seemed to work with Nurse after the initial disasters. Better than Vinny and Ceci have in the series at least. A player that is defensively aware and can make simple plays consistently is what he needs. And mobility helps too of course. Was shocked Knob went there, Kulak on his off side, but I guess that was the option left unless we break up our top pair, which would be kinda crazy. Or Broberg on his off side, but that would be just cruel.

#Oilers Connor McDavid joins Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux as the only players in NHL history to record consecutive 160-point seasons (including playoffs)! #LetsGoOilers
Everyone getting in on the Matthews adjusted stats. For real though, that is impressive.

Oh.. and another interesting point of note...
Looks like Tanev took a shot on the foot.. missed the rest of the game.. suspicions are a significant injury.. broken foot ? .. if he does come back he could be a weak link.. they're rolling Petrovic due to loss of Hakenpaa .. not sure who they have to throw in for the 6th D after him...

They have xray machines on site at Rogers… if that’s just a bruise you gotta think Tanev tosses on a guard and comes back. Maybe I’m wrong, but I think that could be a fracture and an opportunity for the oilers to take advantage

Stars have Nils Lundquist who is a smaller offensive minded RHD being a former NY Rangers 1st round pick. DeBoer doesn't trust him at all though as he's seen maybe 4-5 mins of playing time per game in the Vegas & Colorado series while they rolled 5 D essentially...only to make a transition to Alex Petrovic against the Oilers in this round.
As for the Oilers side, big game from Nurse playing a huge role in the first goal crashing the net which occupied Suter freeing up Mcleod to clean up the trash. Solid overall nastiness as THIS is the Nurse we need. Keep up that nastiness for the remainder of this playoff season....
Big saves from Stu after giving up the 2nd one as well.
Good to see that kind of effort not to mention they actually won after getting not one but TWO goals from their bottom 6 albeit one of them was on the PK.
Back to the slushy ice for game 5.

I don't think we can really say two goals from the bottom 6, when the first goal was scored by Draisaitl's line.
Great win though. Top to bottom, they played an impressive game. They kept coming all night, which meant that Dallas couldn't get anything going in the third. Two more like that please. Preferably starting Friday!

I think Knob gets a lot of credit these playoffs for actually using fresh legs as a weapon. It's not easy to move people in and out of the lineup but every time he's done it the new guys coming in look energised and ready to make a difference. Especially at this stage in the playoffs being rested is a real thing. Perry should be ready to go now for the rest of the playoffs.

What a great game to be at. The highs and lows of the playoffs are unreal.
You couldn't have scripted a worse/unlucky start for the Oilers and Nurse. Puck gets flipped over Kulak which turns into a 2 on 1. Nothing Nurse could really as he has to protect against the pass and leave the shooter to Skinner. He does that. Incredible shot by Johnson. Then the second goal, shot is going wide, goes off his ass. I have said it before, I think Nurse might be the most unlucky guy I have seen. Sure he makes mistakes but the amount of unlucky bounces that go off him is crazy. After that, Nurse was an absolute BEAST.
McLeod went to the net, he didn't get a hand on him and guess what, he scored a goal. I hope they make him watch that film over and over again because he has all the tools to be extremely effective and to score, he just has to go to the net.
I really hope they show the McLeod and Bouchard goals to all Oilers forwards over and over again. Perry fires it on goal. The likelihood it was going to beat Oettinger was pretty low. Hits him high, rebound, McLeod charging in. Scores. The Dallas dman had cut off the pass to Bouch pretty well. McD fires it hard and low off the pads, Bouch charging in. Goal. They aren't pretty, they won't make highlight of the night. But they work. Keep shooting and charging the net.
But everyone played very well. Broberg look just fine. The PK is a weapon. Brown, hat tip man. You sucked in the regular season but man, you are playing well in the playoffs.
I know you don't usually change a winning lineup but I would swap out Ryan for Carrick. He just can't get there. He looks slow so he is probably beat up and tired. He played 3 mins less than any other forward. 33% on draws.
Pretty awesome game. My youngest was PUMPED!

This is the first coach we have had since getting McDrai that is having a consistent positive impact with his decisions in the playoffs. Lineup changes, adjustments, and even a gutsy goalie change. I don't think Skinner is playing this well without the wakeup call and seeing Pickard play well in his spot. His confidence was a straight line down last playoffs and he was on that path this year too, but a big reset button got hit.
Credit Jackson for forcing this coach change. I think Woody was completely losing it at the end and showing how poor he is at coming up with game plans and adjustments. I motivational speaker/give compilation videos of individual mistakes coach only works for so long. Hope Jackson can pull off a good GM hire too.

I can’t stop smiling. The highs are almost worth the lows. Everyone came out to play tonight. Ryan, Nurse, Skinner and Kulak all had moments, but nothing egregious. Solid overall.
‘Just be good enough’ for 6 more wins. Screw dominating. Just be one goal better more often than not. Let everyone criticize why they didn’t deserve it, while we just enjoy the moment.
Calling in my ‘one time’ card. 6 more emotional wins please.

It didn't impact the result but can someone from the NHL tell the refs and linesmen we don't watch the games to watch them!!
The amount of times the linesmen throw centers out, especially Oilers is ridiculous. AND. I can't even figure out what they throw them out for. I watched Stars wingers jump into the circle before puck was even dropped and apparently that's cool. Then you watch Leon barely put his stick down on the ice and he gets tossed.
Should the Oilers be leaving the linesmen a gift basket before every game so they will just drop the damn puck!!!

Fact. If the Oilers score first in game 5 they absolutely need to decline it.

Every referee clinic I have ever attended usually starts and ends with that statement. "No one is coming out to watch you ref or line a game, except maybe your mother. Call the game, do not become the game" was my favourite quip.
I have to imagine this feedback never stops, but the officiating pool is similar to Team Canada's goalie options. The talent drops off significantly after 2 or 3 guys.
