Should have called a time out after the first goal, to clear the heads and get them playing again. Whilst the players aren't playing, the coaching team should have done something as well to try and help and failed. This is as much on them as the players.

Skinner hasn't been his best this period but its not all on him. The defensive structure and weak plays put the team in this bind.
Goal number 1 McDavid was slow to react. RNH weak chip out attempt is stopped
Goal number 2 McDavid with a low IQ defensive play. Bouchard controller disconnect. Skinner makes 3, or 4 saves before it gets knocked in. Ekholm has a chance to get it out, but it's weak. Possibly all he could get, so possibly not on him for the failure to get it out.
Goal 3 just a defensive breakdown. Maybe Skinner shouldn't have been out that far, but the team in front of him shouldn't be that daft defensively.

You’re right - he hasn’t looked amazing, but it was mostly tongue in cheek. If anything it would be to give the boys a boost - they seemed to play better in front of him.
But anyway - Skinner made a couple of nice saves there. Or at least he was hit by the puck.

Another issue with the Oilers this period was the amount of times they lost and edge and fell to the ice. I lost count of how many times, and on the second goal at least 2 went down.

The classic "the Oilers can't play a full 60 minutes" reputation that this team has, comes back to haunt them again.
One huge period followed by one terrible period and another one decided by a broken goalie and a porous defense.

The D has to be lightyears better than they were this evening in G4, and Picks HAS to start.
