Who knew that remaining aggressive with the lead could result in good things? Can they take this effort into Game 7?

They need to show them the 3rd period of game 1, and the 3rd period of this game. If they get a lead and continue to push they are hard to contain. Conversely, they are not equipped to be sit back and protect a lead.

Amen to that.
Glad to see Holloway get rewarded in this one too. He's been flying lately.
If we play like this in game 7 then there's no way Vancouver can hang with us.

Game 5. Oilers no show
Game 6. Canucks no show
Anyone's guess how game 7 goes. Wish we had home ice

We can only hope that the Oil can become the first team to win consecutive games in this seriesโฆ.

I hope the Canucks don't change their goalie. That's always a mind screw for the Oilers.

Lot of what ifs going through my head. Not the least of which is what if we had not blown that game 1 lead. Other than in game 5 when we got stomped in all but the score, weโve easily been the better team in 5 of the 6 games. More of the same Monday please.

Looked like the regular season version of this team.

Was it just rumors or was it confirmed a bunch of our team was sick around the time of game 5?
Would be nice to think that was the case. Maybe we passed it onto the Canucks and it can still be hitting them in game 7 :)

Bouchard was the highest scoring D of the 22/23 playoffs with 17 points.
Now highest of 23/24 with 18 points. 5 points ahead of the next still active D Heiskanen, and 9 ahead of any other active D.
Still burns so hard that we bridged this guy cause we couldn't manage the cap. Imagine if we signed him 8 years at ~7M and DIDN'T give Connor Brown 3M of next years cap? This is the only season we needed some space to sign Bouch long term. We already sunk the cost of what a long term deal would have been with the Brown stupidity.

They are probably going to need 29, 97 and 2 to all take significant home town discounts to keep them.
I don't think that's happening if they don't at the very least make the final.
Big game on Monday.

Not super confident in Skinner and I would have rather had this game with Pickard rolling into game 7..but they got the win. Can't go back now.

Canucks played like we did in game 5. No question. They barely did a thing out there. Their late push was pitiful too, not at all the team we've seen them be through the playoffs. Maybe they couldn't handle the pressure of closing out the 2nd round.
We have to expect them to be way better in game 7. Hope our guys don't get too overconfident from this game.

In amongst all the positivity is a dark patch of negativity in this performance and that of game 5..... Our PP has crashed head first into a brick wall. 0 for 7 isn't it?? That can't go on for much longer?? It has to kick back to life and no better time than game 7, as it's going to be a close one.
I'll also say this, he may have had 3 points tonight, but I've not seen McDavid miss handle the puck as much as this for a long time, it looks like he's carrying a bit of an injury, again some rest can help with that.
Either Skinner or Pickard would have won that game, it would have been perfect for either of them to boost confidnece going forward (after the series/last game). It's time to rest up and go again on Monday.
Note to self check face off time sooner on Monday. Only saw it was 6pm/1am (UK) at around 8pm here, had to dive into bed to get some sleep before the game right then. Need to plan a bit better on Monday.

It was a great win, but the points I make about the PP and McDavid are what I'm thinking can give us a better chance on Monday, it was great, but not pefect...

Unfortunately, because the NHL screwed the Oilers/Canucks over by starting round 2 late, I suspect there will be little time to rest before having to face Dallas. Probably 1 extra day to make sure game 2 is on Saturday and that's all.

On cloud 7.
The highs are high, and lows do not get much lower with this team. I now have very little faith in Skinner and yet Iโve never felt more confident this team is going to scrape by just enough this year.
Loved tonightโs team effort. They played a unicorn. Thatโs one of the best played games since game 6, 2006.
Might be the rum talking. What a goal by Holloway!!!

He takes endless abuse during the regular season.. refs never call a lot of it because they know it will significantly tilt the game due to the Oil powerplay, and deploy their game management discretion that the NHL gives them to keep the games close.. the abuse adds up.. this is the result ..
As skilled as McDavid is .. he's one tough MF'er.. still putting the team on his back and hauling the load.
Hope its something that can heal during the playoffs..

Between him and Miller one of their top snipers.. he's been lethal all playoffs including Nashville..
Maybe this stare-down from Perry made his blood curdle.. ? :)

Honestly, defensively too he has been super effective. Boeser was having an amazing playoffs
Also crazy how he has been injured so much in his career that he made it this far into a season unscathed. You never want something like blood clots to happen to anyone and hope he is better soon, but this is a very Brock Boeser kinda thing to happen. Some guys are just destined to be walking bandaids.
PDO kings keep taking hits to try to cancel it out. We better be ready to take advantage.

It's such a beautiful song and has become a bit of a fan anthem for Man United as well, though we have changed the lyrics a little bit to make it United specific. It wouldn't take a genius to do the same and put an Oilers spin on it.
