Tonight is the night to put away an inferior Canucks team. No more screwing around.

Have they confirmed the starting goalie for tonight? Thinking he has to go back with Pickard - he gave them all they were asking for.

I think Knobby is not going to say who is starting to last minute, keep em guessing.

At this point the horses have left the barn. He put Pickard in and he looked good and won the game. It needs to be his net until it he loses it IMO.

The oilers I think can win with average goaltending. They can't win with historically terrible goaltending. If they get skinnered again at this point it's 100% their own fault - especially if you have a decent alternative.

Luckily I think k2 knows that.

The rains of Must are cleansing Edmonton. It's up to the Oilers to cleanse Rogers Arena with their own power of Must.

We can’t just Pick(ard) and choose when to elevate the Must. But we at OG’s Must Services can Ceci when some want to Cal(vin) their shot. The Ryans of Must are definitely falling from the McLeod’s and you bet your bottom dollar the Must is Warren-ted. Here’s to those Mighty Oil, especially those we highlighted in our message embracing the Must and elevating their games to leave the Canucks to Nurse their Perry’s wounds.

The Oilers have more talent, they are the better team. They don't need spectacular goaltending, they just need average goaltending. They have out shot the Canucks in 3 out of 4, a couple of the games badly. They have way more shot attempts. All the metrics say they have out chanced the Canucks by quite a bit. I would say other than short spurts in various periods in each game, they have controlled/outplayed the Canucks. If they play how are capable of and they don't shoot themselves in the foot, they should win.

Realistically, and this isn't me being a homer, if they got literally a couple of saves in the first game for sure, this serious should be 3-1 at worst.

Just go out there and play how you can!

I'm sure I can find a canucks fan that would say Vancouver is a couple of breaks away from having already won the series and that if you're not getting average goaltending consistently you're not a good team.

I am an Oilers fan who says consistently average goaltending is all this iteration of the Oilers need to win games.

But wholly agree.

We could have had a sweep either way so far. Weird series.

Oilers playoff hockey since 1990 has been a whirlwind. This is the way.

I think both answers are Pickard.
If you put in Skinner and we lose, both goalies could be in a tough mental spot for game 6. If you put Pickard in, Skinner could still feel like he's coming back in to save the day.

This was always the problem starting Pickard last game, the coach isn't strong enough to move back to Skinner.

This team won't do anything without Skinner in net.

The leash will be short on Pickard. 3 goals in a period and he’s sitting. Skinner will be the default setting. I think the strongest coaching move is to remain with Pickard in this series until he shows cracks.

Going to Skinner and he falters crushes two people’s confidence. Pittsburgh went through similar with Murray and MAF years ago, although Matt Murray was just a kid then. It’s a team game and when someone falters, the other should be there to pick them up.

Keys to victory.

* Limit shots
* Keep Vancouver to the perimeter
* Forecheck hard
* Average or better goaltending
* Stay out of the box

That’s a 4-1 win everyday.

Now that I think about this, it’s one thing I definitely haven’t seen much of in the past few playoffs. Hmm. Interesting!

We are playing awful hockey this period. Everyone looks like they are skating in mud.
