Zach Cole with the game winner... Hyman has been coaching more than just Shaq during the play-off's then. Maybe I should refrain from posting during games through this series. Way better performance, obviously Stu would want goal 3 back, but we fought, we battled and took a win. Bring on Sunday

F yeah. Nice one Bouch! Nice to get a break. Maybe Hyman woulda got it anyways.

Hope we can get more going down the lineup at home.

Huge win!! 97 and 29 with 4 points each..They are really going to need some other forwards to show up at some point.

Oilers need to talk to the league about the reffing. Holding, crosschecking, and interference are not "good defense".

That was one missed call. I’m NetBOG - this was worse than the worst Kings games. I guess Tocchet’s speech paid off.

Now it’s Knob’s turn.

I dont know..The refs are awful and basically lost control of the game but the Oilers got away with a few too I think...there was also the ryan stick..the Nurse hit on Peterson..

Nurse hit was clean. Pettersson just fell awkward, but it was shoulder to shoulder.

Yeah it was probably clean but he did go over and try to elbow him afterwards ( I think - i just saw the replay once) - Not that I mind. They need to make their superstars feel it if they are going to target ours all game.

I do think Canucks fans are probably just as upset with the reffing tonight though

What great locker room fodder. Great questions to elevate our game. Those accusations need to stir a fire.

I've seen a few Canucks games this season.. Peterson is always falling down.. can't stay on his feet.. its not diving.. he's just got brutal balance.. maybe too much rocker on those blades? In fact my Canucks fan friend even complained about it during the regular season.. " freaking guy can't stay on his feet.."

Woooooooooohooooooooooooooo!!!!!

Big win. That's huge...hopefully they turn things around from there. Certainly pushing in the third worked a lot better than sitting back and hoping for the best.

We need more out of everyone not on the first line, first pairing d-men and first PP unit. The simple fact is we can't rely on one line to score 4 or 5 goals every night.

Still mad at management for not doing a better job giving those guys (almost all of whom outdate our decrepit general manageer) some support. Zadorov cost Vancouver only a fifth and third round pick. Dallas got Tanev for a couple middling picks and a mediocre prospect. And the Oilers just instead leaked that the team really likes Cody Ceci...

Dallas got Tanev for a couple middling picks and a mediocre prospect. And the Oilers just instead leaked that the team really likes Cody Ceci...

I 100% agree, without knowing the vitriol those trading teams have against Edmonton.

I’d take a lesser pick for greater certainty.

1 Cup

Huge win.

Can someone punch Mikheyev in the face repeatedly in the next game? The guy nearly took out McDavid. He needs a good face punch.

Our unlikeable players need to step up. Perry, Kane ….. where are you?

100%

Not sure if Knoblaugh told them to tone it down but the Oilers need those 2, too do their thing. Perry especially. He wasn't brought here for his speed. Go to the net, get in the goalies face, get people to punch you in the face.

McD, Leon, Hyman brought it and refused to let the Oilers lose. All 3 where fantastic. I guess Knoblaugh wasn't lying when he said it was cramps because there was zero signs Leon was hurt at least in my opinion.

OH man is Ekholm good. Viking power! Bouch I thought had himself an excellent game.

Nurse I thought was good. He stepped his game up big time. His partner thought. Still not great. Ceci was a lot better going down the stretch, they need that back.

Kulak was good, Desharnais not so good. Vinnie looks like he's trying to do too much. Needs to simplify his game.

Kane and Perry need to get their A-hole games going. I wonder if Kane is worried about the refs because it's pretty clear they won't call a penalty when something happens to him. But Kane needs to assert himself and Perry needs to be a pest.

Seecondary scoring is dried up once again. Nuge. Congrats on your second assist on the PP. How about a flipping goal. McLeod, you are great defensively. How about a flipping goal? He's got no points, 6 shots in 7 games. You can't be a 3rd line center and not score anything. Foegele. 20 goals in the regular season in a contract year. That's awesome. You playing in the playoffs yet? For every 100K you made yourself by scoring more than 13, you are losing per game by being invisible.

Henrique, I will give a pass for now. First game. Didn't skate or practice since game 5 of the Kings. They needs him. I hope it's coming.

I would swap Carrick for Ryan. Ryan doesn't do much for me other than win faceoffs and he was below 50%. Canucks are running around, Carrick is bigger tougher and more physical. I don't think Ryan can play more than a few games in a row, it's been 4 now. Carrick would be excited to bring in the line up, he would bring energy, some edge, and I would assume fly around some and give the bottom 6 some life because he'd be happy to be in the line up. Which I think they need.

Skinner. Come on man. You got all the tools to be a great goalie, screw your head on right. That Zad goal. Yikes. He made a great shot to pick a small spot but Skinner lost his angle and post.

They got the split and that is all that counts. They were the more desperate team last night and they got a win. They aren't getting a ton of breaks while the Canucks are. Should be up 2-0 but I'll take 1-1.

The Zadorov goal was as bad as it was flukey. It fluttered like a butterfly.

Skinner still should have had it though.

Having that top line loaded up really disrupts the offence. Not an excuse, but it is a reason and I appreciate every secondary assist on each goal. I don’t get the hate?

There's this narrative going around that it wasn't that bad of a goal because that's how goalies are taught to play those situations. Its bs. The idea is that you put the lower part of your body in position to stop a quick pass bang bang play. Its designed for when players come down the wing in close proximity to the net. Zadorov was on the corner almost against the boards. If a pass miraculously gets through there will be plenty of time to adjust. There's no excuse for him to be on his knees there.

He made some good saves as well.. But that could have been a killer. Luckily he basically didn't see a shot the rest of the game.

I would call it a bit of a fluke too because Ceci tipped it into that perfect area. Zadorov's goal on Nashville was a perfect shot alone, and I still have no idea what Soros was doing trying to save it, almost falling backwards into his net.

It does seem there's something funky being taught to goalies. Soros is pretty damn good, but he had some bizarre technique covering it. Maybe there is a factor too where the goalie can't believe such a huge Neanderthal could even make a good shot from that spot :)

I can't believe Zadorov got that max range seeing eye goal last game, and now a crazy angle Oilers tipped goal into a perfect puck sized slice behind Skinner's back. PDO kings just keep bringing the goods!

Again, we must all hope Skinner learned a lesson :)

There’s a Henrik Lundqvist clip from the second intermission last night where he talks about what the technique is, and that he thinks it’s over-used and leads to bad goals like that. He was railing against telling goalies to do it.

I will say, whether correct from a technique standpoint or not doesn’t really make a difference. If part of your technique exposes a major flaw that shooters can easily exploit for bad goals? Then it’s a bad goal. I used to play beer league with a goalie who barely played as a kid and then really made a lot of effort to better his play as an adult. Attended a lot of goalie training and really did get much better for a while - but there was a tipping point where he was so concerned about his technique that he no longer seemed to ever make reflex or desperation saves. He was frustrating to have in goal the last couple seasons we played with him because he’d get scored on and you’d see him check his angles, reassure himself that he played it correct and move on to the next goal against. Doesn’t matter if you played it perfectly how you were coached if it’s in the net behind you.

Oh yeah, I don't mean to say it's not a bad goal. It was very bad. Bad technique is bad technique. Skinner also still stinks at his stick positioning and has been burned multiple times these playoffs for not holding or using his stick properly.

Hated his lack of effort on the first goal last night too. He knew the pass went across. You can see him turn his head to look, but his body doesn't move at all. That was just a white towel throw before it was even in the net. Pettersson didn't even get the puck in the air. Turned out to be savable if Skinner just got his pad over, but he did an awkward little spin in place after watching the pass and shot and he doesn't even make it past the half way line of his crease. Hopefully better efforts in the coming games.
