5 shots in 2 periods. Seen more shots than that against the devils trap system. What a joke

Can't imagine they're taking pride in any element of their game tonight. Caved in D, terrible goaltending, no shots, no fight to get back into the game...

Just an overall shoddy effort, in virtually every category.

Need a wayyyyy better effort in Game 2, because Vancouver is going to have a tonne of confidence after the way they ended this one.

The Oilers look like they could get steamrolled by a balanced and determined Canucks squad.

won’t be surprised if Oil get swept, paper tiger, bad defence and goaltending, same old story

Why even watch? I don’t get people like that lose their crud over one game after a huge layoff.

Should never blow a 3 goal lead, but Vancouver’s goalie didn’t exactly look like a rock star. You blame everyone but the right the people.

The Oilers didn’t produce scoring chances and still scored 4 goals. Calm down.

That’s just it though… Canucks goalie was horrible. If Demko is in there we probably get blown out… oilers didn’t show much that we belong in this series. 5 straight losses to this team now

I hope you’re right though. One game. See what we can do Friday

I want to believe (I took years off watching the Oil because it was unhealthy, the org killed my love of the game), and I had a tepid/cautious optimism about this team going into these playoffs -- probably bought into the hype. But then something like last night happens and it reminds you... this team is smoke and mirrors... blueline still isn't good enough after all these years, especially when it matters most... goaltending is mediocre to below average. They played bad against LA too the last couple games. At the first hint of adversity, playing a defensively structured and well-coached or well-balanced team, they can't compete. Piss-poor puck possession. Bad "luck". Like I said, it's not negativity, it's reality coming back to bite this team hard. That defence is so bad when it matters. And it'll be especially painful if the Canucks leapfrog the Oilers in the span of 2-3 years with younger, less experienced players, and less top-end talent.

It ain't over but the Canucks just bully the Oilers and I don't see that changing. I think the Oil could get swept, might win 1 game. Hope to be proven wrong.

How does one of the most potent offenses in the NHL only get 18 shots on goal? On a 3rd string goalie who let in about 1 in 4 shots? Not saying go all Dallas Eakins and get your CORSIs shooting from the locker room, but get some pucks on net. Make life uncomfortable for him. 4 SOG in each of the 2nd and 3rd periods?

I really didn't like the 1-0 win against the Kings, and felt like Knoblaugh's crew tried the same thing last night. Get a little buffer, then coast and hope they can hold on. I don't understand that approach at all, especially since in the games like Game 1 against LA, we just ran them out of the building by continuing to press and even though they did score some goals (in part due to somewhat leaky goaltending) we persevered and outgunned them.

When we go full shell, it's just begging for something like last night to happen - especially when we have a defence corps with guys like Ceci and Desharnais in it, who you just can't expect to be locked down all night. It worked once, we should never try it again though.

That effort probably would have been enough against LA and their 1 line team. We beat LA in those last 2 games playing maybe 2 periods of offense and 4 periods of sitting back.

I dunno if this team tricked themselves into thinking they can defend leads. Not a chance against a team with 2+ lines.

The drivers were being too cute...but still...can't blow a lead like this while letting the Nucks forwards get into a rhythm. Latter is the scary part

This was their Cup run moment.. win game 1 on the road.. >Choke<

Team needs a proper 2nd pair NHL D .. Nurse and Ceci ain't it.

Wasn’t 5 hole, but it did hit his stick and went in far post. Probably misses the net 9 times out of 10. Fluke goal. The game winner was the only stinker.

I really hoped obvious issues with this team, that we all knew from last playoffs, but Holland didn't care to fix, would just never be an issue for 4 rounds of NHL playoffs

The game changed when 29 got hurt the team panicked and imploded. Unpleasant glimpse into the team that has been built around 29 and 97.

Ideally Skinner makes a save or two but this is who he is. The bigger the moment the worse he plays. I'd have gone with Campbell last year and I'd have gone with Picard this year. Ive seen this movie enough.

I was more worried about Vinny than Nurse tonight, he looked a little lost especially in that second period. However, we've coped with offensive onslaughts like that recently, but with perhaps no Drai on the ice and all the forwards having to step up a little whilst he was gone, just drained a little too much gas out of them to assist the D as they have done previously.

Nothing against Connor Brown either, but I thought we missed Henrique who's just got that bit of gile and expreince to help out a bit under those sort of situations.

Hate losing the way we did, but we regroup, we get to work on whatever caused Drai to miss some time and go back to work on Friday. I don't think we were that far away tonight, but all it takes is that little bit in play-off's to cost us.

So much for the mature team we’ve been hearing so much about this last week

I know he gets ragged on lots but you HAVE to expect Darnell Nurse to be better defensively. He was a direct reason for several goals against tonight. That pair was ex-posed. Good gracious.

A stellar .792 from Skinner. The last time I gave him a tongue lashing he went .964, 1.000 then down to .857, and finally .792.

I think I need to come down on him every 3rd game.

What an epic collapse. By midway, this game was over. Panel had all thrown in the towel. They were on cruise control. Then our offense gets about 5 shots in half a game, Nurse forgets what position he’s playing, and Skinner continues to show he skipped class the day they learned how to use their stick.

Thankfully it’s not a one game elimination series.

Skinner let in one horrendous goal to lose the game, but the lack of shots on goal was the reason we lost. Not Skinner. Not Nurse. Not Brown.

Thankfully it’s not a one game elimination series.

Skinner let in one horrendous goal to lose the game, but the lack of shots on goal was the reason we lost. Not Skinner. Not Nurse. Not Brown.

They lost by one goal and let in 5. Lack of shots/offense is part of it by so is defense and goaltending or lack thereof. I agree that Connor brown didn't cost them the game.

Aside from the game winner. And be honest, which goals were bad. The accident goal off the heal of the stick? Silvia had a shot slide between his pads, and the only reason it didn’t go in because he got lucky.

I hope a lot of you tonight eat crow. So fickle. Be angry, but this was on the forward group tonight.

It was never going to be easy. Canucks are a good team and they let their guard down. The good news is Arturs is not the answer. We know we don’t have to be scared of him.

McDavid talking a lot about trying to protect the lead. Damn. This team does not have the defense to do that crap. Knob gonna try to make us sit on our hands against good teams just because it worked against LA? Sigh

This is Knob's adjustment moment. Does he realize he doesn't have the D to really sit on any lead against any team left in the playoffs? If not, we could be doomed.

I think they had the right idea, you're up 4-1.. don't give up the cheap odd man rushes/chances against which they did routinely in the regular season.. keep the puck in front of you.. and at the other end.. some just couldn't do their job..

It was noticeable that the Miller line was matched against Nurse/Ceci.. and not Kulak and Desharnais.. other team's scouting staff is telling you something about your team.

Sadly .. 90 games later and the Oilers are full circle with a loss to Team America.

P. Chiarelli math.. T. Hall = A. Larsson, Yak= bag o'pucks (OK he got one right...) K. Russell = $4.1 M+NMC, G. Reinhart= M. Barzal + A. Beauvillier, J. Eberle = R. Spooner,
