Glad we got up a goal early... but man the PP looks terrible right now. Just nothing happening there at all.

Nice PK from Colorado. Massive pressure, on PK and 5v5. They cover their own zone so well, and play great team D.

Oilers should take some notes. Bednar is a hell of a coach.

Oilers can't do anything with it though. They need to simplify the PP scheme for the top unit. This fancy dancy stuff isn't accomplishing much of anything right now.

Best chance the Oil have had on either PP so far is from the second unit.

Nuge needs to get going. He gets plum minutes on the top unit and gets lots of opportunities to get shots, but he's putting nothing away. That's part of the reason why the PP is rough right now as teams aren't respecting Nuge and can overload on Draisaitl's side.

Think they need to change things up more. I find the PP very stationary by the forwards. They seem to think the same plays would work forever. But not only does every team have the book on us, our forwards that couldn't miss last season can't do anything but miss this year. Nuge's shot is so off this year. Drai misses constantly from his favorite spot. McDavid seems to not care much about shooting after getting his Rocket.

Lol. What was that call on Bouch? Guy stakes backwards right into his foot and collapses. Bouch barely moved.

Oof... here we go. Here's the gut check time, as Colorado clearly says "Ok guys, you want to play all out and see what we've got.... let's do this"...

Ekholm gets walked by Colton and it's 2 - 1.

This team isn't good enough. Sorry, but they aren't. Colorado's intensity level is so much higher than the Oil.

Just turned on game but The Oilers seem to be hanging with The Avalanche, despite just giving up a goal?

The Oil came out hard on a bit of a flat-footed Avalanche squad, but Colorado has turned it around fast.

Nice goal for McDavid. He needs that against the Avs as I think MacKinnon and Makar are in his head and have been for a while.

Rantanen has fallen down 3 or 4 times this game already. It's like he was already concussed before Ekholm rocked him.

Maybe Leon should actually practice some of that accuracy stuff that he laughs about in the skills comp.

The guy's been given two glorious open nets to shoot at and couldn't hit either. COME ON LEON. On the positive side, at least he's not giving up the puck left, right and center tonight.

But he's had two great opportunities from that pass... it's not like they haven't connected on it. Leon needs to finish.

It is McDavid after all. He will get it through still now and then. That's all it took last year too because Drai was just pumping them all in.

There is no doubt our shooting is way off from last year. Even Nuge couldn't miss last season. I feel like seeing a good Nuge shot on the PP this season is as rare as seeing a unicorn. McDavid looking for assist records this year.

Player being pushed from behind and only making contact outside the crease

It definitely checked the typical boxes of something that would go against us. Maybe they were scared of angering Ekholm and his Viking beard.

I feel like if we switched teams with the Av’s (even with the Cup) this fan base would want more regardless of what happens. I’m critical of our team too, and can also see that we are right there with the best of the NHL. Bednar just challenged a good goal that was 30/70 not going to be overturned.

There is not one NHL team that I’d put above any of the top 12’ish teams in the league. Everyone has holes. Everyone has its ups and downs.

He was invisible until then. He needs to wake up. A game changer when he’s firing on 6 of 8 cylinders, unfortunately his battery has been dead lately. He had the disallowed goal and now this. Maybe it’s the jumpstart he needed.

Also how many posts in the two games (5?). Feels like they’re about to break out soon.

Definitely a good effort tonight. Even a good 2nd period!

Team still is very capable of dominating, especially after being absolutely destroyed the game before.

Just hope playoffs trigger these guys to put that kind of effort in every game, regardless of the situation.
