The Oil wanted the win, but the Blues NEEDED the win. At least they got the loser point.

Tough bounce for Ekholm at the end there and some horrible timing, given the change. Schenn was WAY behind the play there, so if he'd not missed that puck they are off to the races with numbers.

Oh well, can't win them all. Not a bad effort against a strong netminding performance. I hate seeing Binnington happy. Sigh.

Game Management .. hmm .. should it be an NHL Corporation "copy right" or "trademark"? 🤔
Whatever it was, it was in full effect last night.. that extra 2 for Kane on the helmet was extra interesting.. never seen it called before.. kinda like the famous Makar "non-offside", and Nurse getting a game suspension vs. Vegas for that scrap with Hague.. even though the past NHL precedent is to rescind the suspension when the fight is mutually accepted.

The Oilers Should have won. They beat themselves, with help from the refs, moreso than The Blue Balls won. At least they got a point. If they hadn't blown all their chances, to put the game away, they would have had two.

I'll disagree a little with this assessment. They outplayed the Blues and really took it to them in the third and even for most of overtime. The Blues got strong netminding. We outshot them 38-29 and it's not like we were just throwing muffins from the perimeter. We out-Corsi-ed them 50-31.

According to naturalstattrick, we were just below 50% in both scoring chances and high danger chances, so by those metrics, it's pretty close (and notably the second worst game the team played since the beginning of March), but I mean, the team is still going to lose some games. I didn't think that was an awful one at all. Just not a win.
