What a sickening way to lose. 0.5 seconds.

Good game but sickening ending

Lol Drai was done with this game a little early. Team still goes through long periods of being totally brain-dead. Skinner better have a Hasek inside for playoffs

Not many D will stop MacKinnon from just throwing a hope pass towards our net. However, many forwards can just stick with a man until the clock goes to 0.

Oh well.

And Walker scoring 2 goals with Ceci out on the ice seems like the hockey gods just mocking our $25M GM choice.

You play to the damned whistle. You learn that in the earliest levels of any sport, including hockey. He let up because it's not in him to give it everything he needs to in order for his team to win.

Indeed. Steep price to bear, especially since we used our 1st up. Guess no one's fault. I mean who would expect Holland to pass up the chance to get Adam Henrique using our 1st round pick? That was a once in a generation opportunity to put the Oilers over the top.

Fixing RHD was obviously a 3rd or 4th priority for anyone that follows the team and has seen what has kept us from being a real contender. Knob was giving a further show of confidence to how solid the group already was when he put Ceci on the 3rd pair and promoted Desharnais to play against top comp with Nurse.

Bouchard and Drai. WTH.

Bouch had a great game, but Leon was a rollercoaster. Generated some chances but again was a giveaway machine, and that lackadaisical backcheck at the end.

Come on man. Play to the whistle.

Gonna be hard to beat Colorado in a series. Everybody can score on that team.

Skinner had to be brilliant to keep that one close. Draisaitl doesn’t look great on that OT winner.

He was weak all game.. he's played wing with 97 so much he forgets how to play center sometimes.. it was his guy that got free for the 1st goal as well.. plus he has a bad habit of staying out too long.. whole team does.. only guy that should have free reign with that is 97..

I'm not crazy about Draisaitl, gents.

People make mistakes, but his inability to focus on D cost us twice in this game.

He's also culprit on the second goal. He flies the zone and it stretches out the zone scheme the Oilers deploy. Sure enough, Walker finds the hole in the coverage and exploits it.

Watch the second goal. Watch who flies the zone.

Leon needs to get the eff off the ice when he’s tired. I’m not talking about OT. I’m talking about the entire game. Which ended up making him pretty much useless in OT.

This isn’t a one off with him.

Agree. He thinks he can roll out as long as 97.. but McDavid has a V-12 with eco-boost twin turbos.. 29 has a V-8 with a 4 barrel carb.

Agreed with everything said so far. The only thing positive I will say is we match up very well with these guys and it’s always a tight game. We sucked in the second. But overall it was a very tight game and honestly it could have gone either way. Colorado has a great team, but we have a great team as well.it is what it is, but I still think if we play them in the playoffs, it goes full seven games

We match up well, but if you think that was MacKinnon and Makar playing playoff level hockey... it most definitely wasn't.

They will hammer the Oilers when they make mistakes, like they did in the last series.

It was playoff level and if you don’t think so then McDavid and Draisaitl were not playing at playoff level.

Such a weird take that the opposing team just decides to coast so they don’t show their playoff poke hand.

I agree with this. The top players in the league dont take it easy when they have a matchup like that. Fans love to talk Mackinnon VS McDavid, Crosby VS OV, ETC. Players will play it down but they have a lot of pride so I doubt both sides werent looking to show up.

I think this game was very playoff like. Fairly tight, even, hard hockey.

Tough way to lose but overall a good game.

This is a fair criticism. I have been a strong defender of some of the dumb takes on 29's game but his style is tiring and he doesnt have the tank for the long shifts he takes.

uhhh, wow. Walker 2 goal night h2h with Ceci and we may have lost our new top 4 D as well.

Knoblauch mentions Desharnais will be evaluated tonight and suggests there could be an injury.

This is the reason they lost and will be lucky not to lose in the playoffs. The Oilers defence arent good enough against the elite teams. They Bouchard is the only one who can consistently keep up. Nurse contract etc

Imagine if the forwards on this team had another defence man that could skate and move the puck.

I watched the highlights a couple of minutes ago and even though I knew it was coming that last second shot still irked me. Seemed like an exciting game, though?

Apparently broken finger for Desharnais.. he'll be gone for a bit.. at least it isn't the classic Oiler separated shoulder!

We'll see how Stetcher fits in.. expect Ceci up with Nurse, Stecher with Kulak.. although I like 5 + 27 ..

Wonder how soon Brobie gets called back up?

Pretty incredible game. Back and forth. Big saves, scoring chances. To lose it with .5 left in OT sucked but wow that was entertaining.

I thought Leon's line looked good, he just barely missed a great set up in the first.
I thought the 3rd line was good and so was the 4th line.

Skinner was great, get a goal from a depth guy in Foegele, get a goal from your 4th line center. They missed the net on some great chances, get 1 or 2 of those on the net and they probably go in. I thought maybe McD wasn't making the puck dance as much as he normally does but I didn't think he was bad.

Pretty darn good game. I am disappointed they lost but that was fun to watch. Only negative for me was Singh doing the broadcast over Jack. I find Singh very boring.

Desharnais on ice practicing today.. Stecher playing with Nurse.

Wow, Ceci just glued to the 3rd pair to be carried by Kulak now? At least the players think he's a great dude.

Those two compliment each other.. IMHO Kulak is more predictable than 25.. Ceci does better with a predictable partner..
We'll see how Stecher works with 25.. Stecher gives up some size compared to Desharnais and Ceci.. but he's pretty agile, has puck skills, and has good defensive savvy.. interested to see what happens with Nurse.. 😬

Not sure about complimenting. Kulak helps Ceci I suppose, but Ceci turned Kulak into a 46% GF player now from 58%. 49% xGF from 60% too.

Kulak has his work cut out for him, as does anyone that plays with Ceci. But at least Ceci is a good buddy.
