Kid is having a heck of a year on a mediocre team. Maybe he forms a tag team with Skinner as early as next year.

I wonder who the Oilers see as their number 3 guy in case Skinner or Pickard gets injured. If there's any chance Rodrique sees time as the back up he should absolutely be called up for a few practices and warm up before the playoffs. The Oilers cannot risk a guy's first time being in the playoffs.
But I think Campbell is next in line so it probably doesn't matter.

It's Campbell. We needed Pickard to falter or an injury to give Rodrigue a few regular season starts, and even then I do not think he would get any reps. They would have allowed Campbell to back up or chased after a back up tender through a trade.

Why would we assume it'd be Campbell? his AHL stats are nowhere near Rodrigue's.

Veteran presence, it avoids the buyout, they haven't called up Oliver for a look-see.

I have been noticing that Campbell has started to take the net away from Rodrigue in recent games and his numbers are as good since the very poor start. Even if he still gives up a stinker every game, he then seems to shut the door.
FYI. I have started watching Condors games and they are fun too watch. Lavoie looks like he deserves an NHL recall. 24 goals in 48 games and has scored 7 in his last 7. He also likes to shoot a lot (3.2 Shots a game and a 15.9% shooting percentage). although half his goals have come on the PP and he will get zero ice time there.

Ha!
Got home too late.. its an hour drive back from Abby..
Condors lost 4-1, 3-1 without EN.. but beat Abby 4-1 the night before.. should've gone to that game!
Had great tickets, 2nd row.. guys are so fast! Thought Condors outplayed Abby for most of the game better chances, hit at least 3 posts.. Petrov with a beauty snipe two minutes in to lead 1-0 .. two of the goals against were caused by guys that stayed out way way too long.. then got buried in their own zone doing a fire drill.. on the 1st goal.. the line was on way too long, then a fire drill in their own end for a minute and a half.. iced the puck.. dropped the puck and another minute of fire drill, and iced it again.. another fire drill commenced, and eventually Abby scored.. something similar happened on the 3-1 goal as well..
The main take away was that Broberg is elite.. best skater on the ice for either team.. controlled teh blueline.. he's going to be a player.. also noticed he's tall but pretty lean .. he's still young.. he could use some extra strength, which he'll get as he matures.. very happy Oilers never traded him.
Also Holloway was the best forward out there as well, speed and puck handling in tight spaces was exceptional.. made one play where he stick handling through the Abby defencemen for a chance and the whole the arena went OOooooo !
Other than that Savoie looks better vs AHL competition, great hands and savvy.. Wanner is big but like Broberg super lean.. he's a long way off.. Petrov getting some good chances, he looked promising but only his 1st year in AHL.. same as Wanner..
#2 Hoefenmeyer had trouble all night in his own end.. he was signed from the leafs farm team where he had 11g+27a in 65 games.. he's 7g+11a in 39 this year..
Grubbe has been heralded by some like Lowetide.. but he didn't stand out to me.. his 1st AHL season.. loads of time..
Rodrigue played well.. all 3 goals were at end of defensive breakdowns..
Just some brief notes.. from just one game ..

That's going to be one crowded bench!
I expect Broberg back before season end as well for at least a game..

Bakersfield gets swept out of the playoffs. I'm assuming Happy Jack is with the big team tomorrow.

Likely… but rodrigue has earned the opportunity to be the black ace goalie imo

It'll be interesting to see who actually gets the call. The last couple of years, the Oilers have not brought many up.

The way the team has talked about Campbell since they sent him down, I don't doubt he's the guy they go to if Stu gets hurt.

I don't know. With all the stories and love for Pickard this year I think he gets the first look in the event of an injury, but his lease will be as short as they come.

Yeah, Picks would get the first chance but like can we not put this into the universe?

I was talking to a coworker a month ago and told her that if the Oilers won the cup, I bet Campbell wins 2 playoff games. I still stand by that (but Pickard might have to lose one first).
