Had to go in the middle. It was a tough one though.
Do you think Kenny and Bobby lay the blame for this season on Brown?
"Campbell could have recovered if only Brown had found the net a few more times" "The guy just wasn't the defensive stalwart he was supposed to be. It's a shame Campbell had to suffer for Brown's poor play".

I do not think that they're going to be in a hurry to mention Connor Brown's name at any meetings with ticketholders because it really tarnishes Holland. Rieder was someone they could blame for not stepping up, but he was out the door and there wasn't any remnant. Brown leaves us that ugly cap hit for next year, so it's way worse and looks worse on management. They made a really bad bet, especially making it so easy for him to achieve the milestone. And he's looked out of place all year.
"Thinking that a bad team's best players are the reason the team is bad is the "Tambellini re-signing Lennart Petrell" of sports opinions." @Woodguy55

Yeah it was a toss for me between C. Brown #2 or C. Brown #3.. opted for Connor Brown #3 .. I think he has the best chance of winning the TRC.. C. Ceci is the underdog in this contest.. it'll be a battle to the end!

I think this poll is really unfair. Campbell's name isn't up there.

I also think Cody Ceci is playing hockey pretty much like Cody Ceci is expected to play hockey.
Connor Brown is playing hockey like we expected him to play badminton.

The problem is the Oilers want Ceci to play like Ekholm and Desharais to play like Ceci. Imagine if the Oilers had this backend setup:
Nurse Ekholm
Ekholm Bouchard
Ceci Kulak
Real veteran goalie
Skinner

We usually don't put defensemen in with the TRC.. their job is defense.. but was running out of options.. needed to break up the monopoly just for interest sake.. can a stay at home defenseman (who forgets to stay home on occasion) outscore a top 6 winger?

I think that is actually shots taken, not games played. The Oilers missed the playoffs in 2019 because Reider didn't score any goals.

Yep you're correct! .. its shots taken in goal-less seasons played.. the original post it came from didn't indicate.. I assumed GP..
I looked up the games played for those zero goal seasons.. here is the re-ordering based on GP..
Toby sure couldn't find the net.. 92 fruitless shots!!
To be fair to some of these other guys, they probably didn't get much ice time in a game played.. Connor Brown has been playing mostly top 6 .. but he's been getting more chances lately.. think he's getting pretty close to a goal!
(18-19) L – Tobias Reider 0/92 (67 games)
(19-20) R – Patrick Russel 0/58 (45 games)
(06-07) L – Jean-Francois Jacques 0/23 (37 games)
(23-24) R – Connor Brown 0/43 (27 games.. and counting)
(09-10) C – Ryan Stone 0/25 (27 games)

It has to happen, and when he gets one he will get more. It is not like he's not getting quality chances or quality shots on the net. He has Scott Gomez'itis.

Geez ... I dunno? Maybe he doesn't rip it like Matthews, but I can think of multiple times where I have been in complete disbelief wondering how the puck stayed out.

There was one where he got a beauty cross seam pass .. right past the goalie to the other side.. Brown had the gaping open net .. sure goal.. Brown took the shot .. hit the goalie and deflected out of play (it was going past/front of the net).. Louie gave the goalie credit for making a great save.. but on the replay the shot wasn't even on the net.. the guy has had triple A opportunities.. no Finnish... or Swedish... or even Norwegian .. :)
The guy works his butt off.. eventually the rock will crack.. 👍🏻

.. just for reference.. there is a guy on the Avalanche that was a first rounder, #10 over-all, that in 2018-2019 played 57 games and went goal-less for the season on Dallas.. He's scored 25g + 22a = 47pts in 43 games this year.. currently getting paid $6.125M
