Yay Oilers. Maybe they win this one?
Bouchard and McDavid both with horrendous turnovers. Great start.

Based on the first ten minutes, this is sloppy af hockey.
The Oilers hockey is the sloppier of the two, without a doubt.

I'm deleting all of that. Enough negativity.
None of that is helping this team sort themselves out. Good luck Oilers. Hope you can see yourselves out of this.

They’re so deep into their own headspace they can barely make a 6 foot pass. The person this team needs most right now is Joey Moss.

All this and these clowns still cant pick up a loose guy directly in front of their net. I wouldnt expect a stop this year. The 1-0 goal might be the dagger, even if these teams really shouldnt be a contest.
Pretty sluggish and disjointed period.

Great shot by Nurse. One of the better Oilers of late.
Tie game!

Glad Nurse took a moment to relax before taking that shot. You could almost see him take a deep breath and focus on making the most of it.
Is it just me or does McDavid look like he's completely lost out there right now?

Ugh 2-1 sharks… Meanwhile Campbell is playing for Bakersfield tonight and let in 4 goals on just over 11 shots 😅 one was a real stinker

I feel like no matter the result, being down 2-1 at the halfway point is a loss.

The Duncan Keith retirement plan.
Director of skate laces with a nice salary.

Holloway was given the blame on the first goal and lucky bounce blamed for the second. Both times I don't think Drai was serving any positive purpose.
I dont fully know the Oilers scheme but I would think that Holloway made the right choice on the first goal. When the D cheats over to the player coming from behind the net I would assume that the winger cuts off the pass to the outside shooter and the center should be having the slot guy.
Drai coasts back into the zone and just stares the puck carrier.
The second goal does take an unlucky redirection but once again, Drai is just coasting back and not covering going towards any Shark.
I have defended him a lot but he has been playing terrible defensive hockey.
On a related note, after the first goal Holloway has been a buzzsaw. Nice to see him bounce back and come out with a few good shifts in a row. In the midst of the season start and then the first goal a lot of young players would tense up and play terribly.

Draisaitl has no jump when offensive opportunities arise as well.
And I’ve been thinking for a few games he should get a batch of new sticks.

When your team S% is 5% or whatever, probably less, you dont have a prayer if you manage 5 or 6 shots in the 2nd when you're chasing the game on your way to worst team in the league.
Abysmal period of hockey.

Even if the Oilers comeback and win thus game management should treat it as a loss. Whatever their plan is for the worse case scenario it's time to execute. This should happen at a level above Holland.

This sharks team is doing a great job of defending the slot and around their net. We have got good chances but we have better players obviously, but Sharks are always leaning on or getting sticks on our guys in danger areas.
Just lame to see this trash team have better team defense than us. Guess to be fair, most teams have an easy time boxing us out. We don't try that hard to go to the net, haven't for a long time.

Local wags always boast about how calm and collected a goaltender Skinner is.
Except in the playoffs or important games that is..
Dude over commits constantly. I think Skinner peaked during the regular season last year. I don’t think he will ever be a true starter in the NHL.
Really bad gamble Mr Holland.

Every aspect of Skinner's game seems to have regressed since he joined the big club. A pattern we have seen with many goalies here in the last decade.
There is no way there could be a constant factor in the org influencing all these goalies though. Impossible

Nuge's slow playmaking starting to look too slow for 5v4 now too. It's been too slow for 5v5 for a decade, but maybe age starting to catch up to him to make 5v4 hard too.

I think Gagner needs to earn that contract now and carry this team to get back in it.

This team's leadership is utter trash. Forget what I wrote earlier about not being negative... the fact that McDavid and Drai are completely bailing on this team is inexcusable. They are playing like garbage and there is no accountability at all.

No, we've been told over and over by local media that the goalies are the ones in the net.

Well, at least there's a reason to watch this game until the end. This team is broken. I have no particular insight as the rest of you, they are just so clearly out of synch and out of care.
