No Cups

Does anyone think that Phil Kessel could help this team? He’s a UFA, willing to go to any team, so he says. Multiple cups on different teams, solid veteran, skills and not fragile. Played last year on a $1.5 mil contract. Still unsigned. I’d think he would be better than Gagner in every facet. Although Gagner is a nice story, I think I’d rather have a better player taking up a roster spot than a feel good recycled often injured bottom/middler player. If Ken hasn’t contacted him he is not doing his job. Nothing against Gagner, just think there are better options for the team if he’s serious about building a winning team and not just going through the motions.

He blew our load on Brown. Definitely could have tried to get Kessel on a deal similar to Brown, probably with a far tinier bonus. Brown's bonus never made sense of course. Nice to see Blake Wheeler cash in his full 1.3M deal with his 10 games bonus while Brown is about to cash in 4M.

Astute deal making has never been a strong suit of this organization.
