Was at this game almost exactly a year ago. Oilers got crushed. Don't expect much different tonight.

Dallas 6-1-1 on the season & we're 2-5-1, yet most are picking us to win this? I wish I could share that optimism, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

I'll be at the game, and I'm wearing a new jersey that hasn't yet seen a loss, so we're golden here.

Because people who cheer for/follow a team generally don't go into every game expecting the team to lose, otherwise why would they cheer for the team?

You've created a false equivalency. I want the Oilers to win every game because I'm a fan, but that doesn't mean I expect them to win. The two concepts aren't related. It's like saying 'why would you buy a lottery ticket and not expect to win'? It's because I like the possibility of winning 20 million, but certainly don't expect it to happen. It's a conflict between want and expectation.
I do expect the Oilers to do well tonight. Dallas is a very good hockey team but the Oilers should be better than 2-5-1.
Please do not feed the bears. Feeding the bears creates a dependent population unable to survive on their own. Bears.

If fandom was based solely on expectations, I'd think the Oilers would have killed off the whole damn fan base over the last 15 years. The team has to be very glad that emotional attachment isn't always based on whether the bet pays off!
Can you imagine how soul-crushing the Eakins era would have been if you'd gone in to every game believing the team was going to win?

I can't believe how much goodwill and emotional support the Oilers still have but I guess people still want to believe.

I picked the OIlers to win each of the next 5 games in the oilfans prediction contest.

I picked the Oilers to lose, but out of those who picked them to lose, I am the only one who picked them to get scored on more than 4 times. Am I that pessimistic?

Tickets were apparently $3 on the resale market in Calgary last night. No such luck in Edmonton.

Oilers played a great game against the Flames... much better than they'd been playing lately. If they can keep the penalty parade to a minimum, I think it's a saw off on who wins this one.
Granted, the Flames are pretty rough this year... but they hung in there with Dallas.
