Canada beats a spunky Latvia team 4-2 in the semis..

Germany7 stuns USA team in OT 3-2 to win their semifinal.. USA had been undefeated 8-0 and had out scored opposition 34-8 .. felt bad for them..

Canada goes for GOLD!!
Not many big names, or even middle ranked names from the NHL came this time.. coming up with an amazing effort..

Germany first time playing for a Gold.. Latvia 1st time playing for a medal

Go CANADA!!

TEAM CANADA

GOLD!

5-2 over Germany

Great Team win.

Lucic now has a Memorial Cup, Stanley Cup, and a IIHF Championship.

The defenceman Middleton looked good (Minnesota).. never new anything about him, he look excellent, him and Weager were shutting everything down.. (hope it doesn't translate to Flames next year!)

Probably a TC that I thought had one the least amount of NHL star talent on it.. but they put it together.. Great work by Yzerman, Armstrong and Doan for putting the team together, and the coaches for getting them to function at an elite level in such a short time.. That Sammy Blais is a great character.

Oh.. and LATVIA.. beats USA .. in OT for the bronze!

Germany won their first medal (silver) since a silver in 1953.. but that one hardly counts.. no USA, no Canada, no USSR, no Finland, and no Czechoslovakia at the tournament..

Latvia doing it right. National holiday for winning bronze.

Meanwhile their two turd neighbors are offering nuclear weapons to anyone who will join them in terrorizing Ukrainians.
