Sounds like a AHL pick up only. 5 goals and 9 points in 82 NHL games with Buffalo, Philadelphia and Vancouver.

Bako depth I’m guessing. He’s got everything you would want in a player, but has never found a way to translate it to the NHL.

Maybe they think he could be Kane light? Seriously the resemblance is kinda uncanny. Another thought. He was already playing in Bako. Makes no sense to sign him unless they see him as a NHL option this year.

He's supposed to have some speed and compete.. I think they see him as an option vs. the d-bag teams

Just like Jason Demers, this doesn't make a lot of actual sense. Rewarding someone with a carrot I suppose? Not sure why he needs to take up a contract spot. He's 27 with 82 mediocre NHL performances under his belt, and well under a point per game in the AHL this year. How many Brad Malones does one team need?
