Oilers are going to be in tough in this one. Stars love beating up on teams that only play half of the game... so I'm calling this one a sizable Stars win in advance.

Sadly me too

Until we put a full game together and this defense plays even half decent it’s going to get ugly

I have no idea what team will show up. Could I see the Oilers losing this game? Absolutely. Dallas is a good team and over a long period of time, they haven't done well in Dallas. But could I see them coming out, play a hell of a game and win it? Absolutely.

We usually play to our opponents level so I expect a competitive game but a loss

Just picked up a fresh jug of spiced rum and a 2L of eggnog. Should make tonight's game bearable.

Great point. Oilers games, especially during Christmas, should be enjoyable. Remember, they're a unit of entertainment not an emotional investment. I'm 5 or 6 days behind on my beer advent calendar, so I'm covered.

Last season, during our annual December decline I made a point to no longer make it an emotional investment. I have zero control
In the outcome. It was making me upset and bad games leaked into my overall mood.

I’m a much happier fan now. It’s frustrating watching them at times, but a good rum makes things better.

Seeing the success the Leafs are having with who they have on defense plus a few of their key dmen hurt, it goes to show that a team CAN play decent defense and you don't need a bunch of norris finalists to do it. You just have to have your whole team, including the stars prioritizing playing sound hockey vs just worrying about scoring. The Oilers could use another dman but I don't think even if they put in a norris dman, it would help them a ton. THe whole team, stars and all need to prioritize playing defense more than looking to break records scoring wise.

The Eakins Oilers broke me of my emotional investment. I actually enjoy the games a lot more now. I know the Oilers are deeply flawed team with a couple really fun players to watch. Sometimes those players cover the problem, sometimes they don’t. The true upside is the money I’ve saved.

Pretty much how I take these games. They are what they are. Take em for what it's worth. I used to watch every single minute of every game. Now I just channel surf and maybe catch the last period. Honestly this team was more fun to watch when we had Ryan Smyth, Ethan Moreau and Jason Smith over achieving then watching these sad sacks under achieve.

What is Pavelski taking? The guy is 38, has 11 goals, 31 pts in 33 games. That's crazy!

Unless some players are held accountable with press box time I expect the same D breakdowns of late since the opponent is actually a good one tonight. Good point about not getting too emotionally invested as we have no bearing on the outcome. Probably going to have a couple Xmass drinks during this also. Happy Holidays you people! bdaysmile

Odd late start....this type of start time usually results in weird bounces for both teams.

Lucky to get discounted tickets from a personal contact....but seeing how we're so close to Xmas, players from both teams will possess a ton of family in attendance which drove up prices big time.

Stars just got back from a 5 game roadie on the east coast so they could be a bit off? That's HOPEFULLY one thing we can bank off of.....

Seems it's late start to accommodate TNT. Should feel like a normal start time for Oilers.
