Just win

My son had me up at 4:45 today so I won’t be awake for this as usual.

When it's early December and a mid-week game against the Coyotes is a must-win? That's not a good sign.

However, despite that brutal showing and some really sloppy play, we're 4-2 in the last six games. All that is important is getting the W.

If Hyman is back and Yamo available, I wonder if they split up McD and Leon.

This one feels kinda musty. Max shame if we can't put in a great game against this team after a zero defense night against the Caps.

It's definitely musty. The Oilers aren't good enough to give away home points to a team in the middle of a 93 game road trip.

But, at the same time, are they good enough to NOT give away points to a team in the middle of a 93 game road trip? Time will tell.

Oh they are certainly leaky enough to let that happen.

Here is to hoping. They are a better team when they are apart.

Fortunately, no. Going with Skinner. Yams and Hyman are back! But no splitting the superstars tonight:

Draisaitl - McDavid - Hyman
Janmark - RNH - Yamamoto
Holloway - Hamblin - Puljujarvi
Kostin - Shore - Ryan

Nurse - Ceci
Kulak - Barrie
Broberg - Bouchard

Skinner
Campbell

I am glad Hyman is back. It's become pretty apparent to me that Kane is extremely important to the Oilers with Hyman in the same boat. So to have both out, is crippling to them.

Personally, I would have split up McD and Leon, elevate Holloway and drop Nuge to the 3rd line to help beef up the bottom 6.

I also would have played Campbell. I know they need the win but they also need him to get going as you can't play Skinner every game and even though the Yotes play hard, they are the least talented team in the NHL. I would have told the team they have to buckle down defensively for Campbell.

I wouldn't be surprised if we drop this one and then beat Minnesota or something stupid.

If Hyman is back and Yamo available, I wonder if they split up McD and Leon.

They should now they have Yamamoto back, wish that guy would start catching fire a bit. Nuge at 3C until McLeod is back. I just like it when LD is moving his legs because he has to as the main guy at 2C rather than him being more static with Connor doing most of the puck carrying. Connor and Leon isn't always going to generate the 2 on 1 when LD finds something no matter where it is in the shift to receive the feed. We saw this manifest a bit last game, Leon working his way into the R corner into the offensive zone, not moving much, giving the puck away. When he's moving and has the ability to pass like he does, the looks and lanes are always changing and it makes it incredibly difficult for other teams to defend. When Leon is static, he still makes some great passes, but often giveaways or broken plays result. I like Connor and Leon together briefly and situationally, but your 2 best centers should be playing center.
