WTH was Nurse doing there?

Fielding a ground ball down the middle?

He never ceases to amaze.

I mean, I have been told my hockey knowledge is inferior; what was that stunning move Nurse just pulled? How did that not work; what work by Florida to overcome such a D-talent to score first.

I doubt it’s inferior to Darnell’s though.

No kidding, I cannot recall a player with such physical attributes to have zero brain cells.

That was like Bill Buckner for the Red Sox in the World Series against the Mets.....I wonder what else happened in 1986.....

That was a BS call on Nurse. Having a hug with Goudas after the whistle and the ref picks him out.

Truly we are better off with him in the box. I'm hoping fans in the Stadium soon give him the Tom Poti treatment.

What a take. Truly.

I hope our fans boo a guy out of town, because that’s likely to help the team!

And some people wonder why their hockey knowledge gets scrutinized.

It was a terrible play by Nurse, of course. I, for one, hope the fans don’t boo him to the point where we need to trade him for nothing.

I digress, but man, he needs to be held accountable for his bone head play. Coaching staff clearly won't do it.

Credit where it is due. You are kinda on point here. It was a bad decision but also a very unlucky bounce. I'll even give you a full point because I am in a great mood tonight and it makes the math easier. You are now 1/100 or so on hot takes. Solid 1%

Not sure why I ever questioned you.

Dude, no top D makes these plays over and over. Nurse is way too often on the end of a brain dead play leading to a goal.

"dude", he isn't perfect and is overpaid, I think that is a pretty unanimous thought around these parts.
9/10 of your posts are about how he is the worst, Oilers would be better without him, etc.

This shows a complete lack of understanding from numerous angles.

Honest question;
In your perfect world, let's say the Oilers could walk away from Nurse this coming offseason with no repercussion or penalty.
Roughly what term and AAV do you think Nurse would get on the open market. To be clear, not what would you pay, or what you think his worth is. If 31 GM's could sign him, how much would he get?

Also, "to be clear" it is just not me. I read countless articles this past summer about Nurse being a steaming pile of dog crap. His best attribute is his physical skill set and ability to eat minutes. It's like RA Dickey on the Jay's, can pitch 8 innings but always gives up 6 runs...

Perfect, so he is overpaid and Ken Holland screwed up. Turn off the overpaid bias.

I don't watch baseball, so while I have heard of Dickey my knowledge of that sport is zero so can't comment on the comparison.

That physical skill set and (your words) ABILITY to eat minutes gets you paid. Especially on a team with very few reliable options behind him. Part of me really hopes Nurse gets hurt*. We would see real quick just how important he is to this team.

*only for 5 games. Big enough sample size to show his value but not enough to tank the Oilers playoff chances.

To be fair to Barrie, he was covering a guy, just not the one that scored. Could have used some forward help.

Barrie and Kulak both played that 3-2 about as bad as possible.
Too bad, after the Nurse error on goal 1 the team hadn't played bad defensive hockey this game. Tough time for a terrible play.

It wasn't one of Barrie or Kulak but as a tandem they were non-committal. They didn't really take away a shooting or passing option. On an odd man rush you need to take away options as soon as possible to allow the goalie on a chance on the remaining option(s)
In fairness there are a couple of points I will give the D in their defence;
- it was a heck of a passing play, pretty textbook 3 on 2
- I would have to see the replay to see if a forward could have or should have been hurrying back to even the odds.
- they didn't really make a huge error, which is a step forward.

Fair ball, poor choice of words. While I try to avoid hyperbole, in the moment it sneaks in at times!
I will also admit that a lack of action is a pet peeve.

ETA; the ninja edit you made from "quotes" to "hot takes" actually made me LOL. and I mean that in a genuine, that is awesome, kind of way! It is actually term I hate, and used it earlier. I tend to use that when mocking opinions I find ridiculous so in this case your use of it works perfectly. Well played.
