29 year old who spent last year with Vegas picking up 25 points in 67 games.

Can fully bury this deal if he doesn’t work out. Apparently his possession numbers aren’t loved.

At this point Janmark's a generic bottom-sixer. He's versatile, but doesn't do anything especially well.
He has decent scoring punch but mediocre possession totals, decent size but isn't physical, PKs but only ever has meh results, and lines up on either wing.
Also: cheap.

Drafted by Ken Holland in 2013.
Clean house or bust

Not impressed with this signing at all.. expected better.. that 1.25 is precious fuel.

Mattias Janmark, signed for one year at $1.25M, is a depth forward.
He's strong on the power play, and unexceptional at 5v5. Decent forechecker, but doesn't provide a ton of value elsewhere. Of course, as a cheap fourth-liner, there isn't much risk or issue with this signing.

Might be a pker? Doesn't hit much so not really a Kassian replacement in the bottom 6. Might be more an archie replacement
1 year though. His agent should be fired obviously for not getting 2

"Next year I would forecast as another developmental year"

Who knew you could do that!
Apparently he has done some PKing - but not a ton, and not super effectively.

^Def see it as an Archie replacement...
If Janmark's agent sucks, then Foegele's is in the HOF of Sports Law

Quick thread on Janmark.
I was looking at him the other day so I had all this stuff handy and thought I'd share it.
1) PK TOI/gm and where he slotted among forwards.
He was 2nd PK unit until he got VGK where he went to the 3rd unit. Certainly "a PKer" (1/
|
Quote: | 2. Spot on the roster via QoC and results vs other team's Elites:
3rd liner last 3 years. Results vs Elites compared to team mates was positive until he got to VGK, but improved in his full season there. Good results here for a bottom 6 F imo.
|
Quote: | 3. Effect on team mates using
@EvolvingHockey
's Relative to Team Mates for both Actual Goal Share and Expected Goal Share.
Lots of red here, especially on Actual Goals. Not uncommon for bottom 6 F's to show like this due to the effect of Dmen having better...(3/
|
Quote: | ...better Goal/xGoal results with top 6 players. Fancies are better than Actual. His influence is a bit better on defence than on offence in both goals and x/goals
Not good, but still a step up from Archibald, who he replaced on the roster (4/
|
Quote: | 4. Faceoffs. Janmark is listed as a C, but if he played C in the NHL it hasn't been since 18/19.
His volume of face offs taken tells us that "he's the winger who takes the draw when the C is kicked out" (5/
|
Quote: | In all he looks like an "decent enough" bottom 6 F who can play 2PK. At $1.25MM/1yr in the NHL that's reasonable value I think.
Reasonable signing. I haven't dug into who is out there still so can't say "oohhh, they should have grabbed "this guy"", but not bad. (6/6)

I follow Woodguy and respect a lot of what he says as he's not one of ones that takes what the stats sites give out for free which is limited, then cherry picks the stats they want.
I see him as a cheaper replacement for Foegele.
