Does… this mean the Oilers get to hang a pacific division banner?

Psh, don't make them sound like the Dys.
P.S.: Well, looks like it's time to nip over to the CP forum to witness the thermonuclear meltdown. I ought to wear a radiation suit for this one.

Can't say I've got a crystal ball, but I predicted us to win in 5... My goodness this is so freaking sweet. OT winner from McDavid who played his worse game of the play-off's as well.
5.30 in the morning and I don't care if I woke anyone up with that scream on the goal...
Take me home, country road

Drai with a casual 4 points. Just destroys the 3 straight 3+ points record with his 5th in a row.

How is anyone still questioning that was a kick? There was no reason for him to extend his left leg under the right one at the puck except to try to kick the puck.

It’s typical Flames stuff. Complain about no review in ‘04. Complain about a review in ‘22. Whatever. The puck wasn’t in and it never will be in. Either year.

Yeah, my buddy whose a Flames fan is making a lot of comments about the refs I feel like he's going to regret someday. He might have mentioned 04 two or three, maybe nine times in the last 30 minutes. Absolutely a kick, and an unnecessary one at that, the puck was going in.

All he had to do was lift up and go around the post. The idea he is just trying to stop by tilting his body over and extending his left leg underneath his right one is hilarious.
Oh well.
So glad we finished this tonight. Clearly some guys on this team need rest, bad. Smith maybe more than Drai. I was really getting scared what Game 6 or 7 Smith would play like.

They can redirect. I think they've got an argument, if it was us I'd be out in the street with a molotov cocktail in hand and a baseball bat in the other. He probably should have left it alone and it would have gone in anyway.

Was it a redirect? That was him pushing his skate into the puck.
The redirect can be allowed, but that just means you turn your foot or keep it stationary. Moving your skate into the puck to push it is always a kick. One of the easier calls to get right IMO.

Even if it’s a bad call, who cares? You’re still tied. Play the game and win. Blaming a call, especially in a tie game, is a loser mentality. The upside for Calgary is it’s a very nice distraction from the 25 goals they gave up and leads they choked away in games 1, 2, and 5. Remember when they tied game 4 up and gave up a goal three seconds later? Me neither. Focus on the call.

You can definitely see him extend his foot to the puck in the reply, and that is probably what did it. Maybe he didn't mean to, but that is what the ref sees, and even if the puck is headed in not it becomes one that is kicked it. They should be mad at Coleman more than the refs, but Flames fans have flashbacks to 2004, so I think its bubbling up 18 years of anger now.

Not only does he extend his leg weirdly to make contact, but his eyes are locked on the puck the whole way too. He knew exactly what he was doing and he thought he'd get away with it. Stupid play, because he kicked it a centimeter in front of the goal line and no one else was within two feet of it. That was going in the net and he put it in the refs hands to make a judgement call because of his action. He cost his team the game with that move.
So long Calgary! This feels great, but we're still only half way there. Enjoy tonight, and then back to business! Two rounds isn't enough.

No way, I'm a totally unbiased person that looks at every play with a completely neutral viewpoint...
Honestly though, I'd like to think I would accept that one. The sad part for him is all he had to do was leave it and it's in. That extension with the left leg was just pure instinct though, bummer for him. He was a little rat all series though, so kinda funny it was him too.

Ceci was going for the loose rolling puck and Coleman took him out of the play, so there's a decent chance that Ceci could (possibly) have swept the puck out of the crease before it went in. Ceci pushed back and tied Coleman up, so Coleman had to drain it with the kick.
The second it went in I texted my buddy it was kicked. But, based on prior experience, I figured it was going to be called a good goal no matter what.
Kind of poetic instant karma justice that Coleman, who was crashing the Oilers' crease every game, got burned crashing the Oilers' crease.

Right before they made the call, I tweeted that thought it was a kick, but there was no chance they would overturn it as it was too subtle. So happy to be wrong on that one.

Agree 100%.. that was a soccer move you'd see in the Premier League.. he purposely crossed his left foot under his right leg (which was unnatural and probably tipped the decision) and pushed the foot into the puck in the direction of the net.. that's a kicking motion.. and regardless (as others have mentioned) game was still tied.. Flames had a fair chance to win after that.. until.. PING!
Besides.. after all the terrible decisions by NHL Control the Oilers have had to live with over the years in the playoffs (Kesler anyone?) .. I wouldn't be too broken up about this call.

I saw the crossover on the opposite side high view when I dragged my ass out of bed a couple hours ago and that looks more like a kick out of all the angles. I would agree that might turn it over, don't remember seeing that last night.

I feel the same, but I’d be twice as angry as the puck was going in regardless.
Oh well. Makes up +++ for the waved off goals earlier in the series.

I honestly said I didn’t want the Flames at first, because I didn’t want to see a loss to them. But then, I realized that McDavid’s path to eternal glory had to go through Calgary at some point. And to do it this way? He’s building a temple.
Edit: and I can’t find it, but I think Drai just had the best PPG in a playoff series in history. And Hyman will retire an Oilers legend too. I’m speechless

I can’t believe I just saw my team steamroll through Calgary in a playoff series. Is this what pure happiness feels like?

Yeah!!!
Jesus the broadcast team was subdued. Should have dubbed Jack and Stauffer over that garbage.
Happy, so happy to be back in the conference finals, the league semis, the final frigging 4!
McDavid figured he was bad? Huh. Maybe he was regular season McDavid.
Hyman helluva series, a big part of getting this group going tonight. LD was laboring sometimes, he's gutting out big time, but a hell of a game, 19 helpers in the playoffs. Thought Yamo and Nuge were really good on the boards, in the corners, being tenacious, defending, being good in their end. Love it. That 3rd line played a pretty mature game. JP a big goal and its gonna get him going, I'm a believer.
D had some moments but some redemption too. Nurse and Bouch adding to the tally.
Man, Markstrom was just that little bit worse than Mike Smith. The next series the Oilers need much, much better goaltending.
Controversial no goal against late, but these guys deserve this series racking off 4 straight wins against a team that was hyped to be built for the playoffs. I'm very happy about the resilience of this club, and where it's at in that respect, just finding ways to get out of holes, overcome momentum swings, and just get things done.
The really exciting part is that it it should be clear to the NHL and everyone that these guys deserve to be here. Get some rest, heal a bit. Anything is possible.

Just an amazing feeling to get past Calgary. I didn't want this match up, especially after seeing the solid goaltending they got in round 1 and remember the 9-5 game during the season. Then after game 1 I felt like the Oilers used up all their comeback points in that game. Never been so glad to be so wrong. Lots of focus of McDavid and Draisaitl for their points (Draisaitl with 17 points in 5 games!), but so many players played at the top of their game through the series, it was a real treat to watch.
