Not able to watch the game, but saw the goal was called back. What happened there?

Foegele was a full foot offside.

Edit: While not involved in the play whatsoever.

Hate that, i wish they would change it so that the person offsides has to be judged to have impacted the play. They'll never go for that though as that is very subjective.

97 down a couple chiclets. That’s the only leadership intangible he was missing. Gritensity increases tenfold with a flapper.

He hasn’t, but it didn’t look horrific. Likely getting some freezing and off to the dentist after the game.

Lower central incisors broken. Looks like a bruise on his zygoma too. Definitely has a bunch of anesthetic in there, and pretty minor swelling. Lucky guy.

Bouchard needs to learn to get back in the play effectively when he takes chances on the rush like that.

Ends up coming back into the zone flapping his wings and playing completely out of position.

Should you just be able to fire the puck into the crowd at the players box and get a too many men PP? Nobody played the puck.

This is what I see every game as well. I dont see him letting in beach balls or straight up whiffing on things, he just seems....off.
I am far from a goalie expert but he seems out of position and/or has bad form so many times per game. Older goalies calling card is supposed to be technical skill making up for slowing reflexes.

Is does give me some hope that he can still be "fixed". We cant roll years off age but perhaps tightening up technique can eliminate a goal a game. I would even settle for shaving off a goal every 3 games.

Too logical. We want blood... heads on spikes.. Smith in a retirement home.

But, well... ya, Holland isn't going to do anything to get a legit starter here so hope is all we have. Right?

I agree Holland probably keeps this duo because that’s Holland’s style. My hope is woodcroft continues to manage their starts better than Tippett. There must have been temptation to play Koskinen back to back. The Finn is playing well and winning while smith is struggling, but maybe the Oilers have a coach that understands we don’t have 1994 Brodeur?

Smith hasn’t been that bad today. Spastic at times, but not bad.

Absolutely. He hasn’t been a detriment in this one as much as recent starts, but his poor positioning and subsequent battle due to positioning is quite noticeable.

By spastic I mean Smith tries to catch every shot in his armpit while looking behind him for some reason.

They definitely have trouble gaining the zone on powerplay without McDavid carrying it in. Hopefully he comes back in the second. Maybe he can do some KitKat commercials with Burns.

lots of real chances, but no finish.

Too many self inflicted wounds already...
offside on 97 goal
too many men penalty
71 leaves slot wide open

Refs seem intent on ensuring there won't be an upset in this one.
