Would love to see another thumping. If they get a lead, don’t let up.

Technically this is the only path to victory available with this D group
You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you can get a lottery pick.

*if Schmiddy can return. How many times has he came back to be injured one game later, or have many setbacks to his return.

Just once. He's been injured in game 3, after game 2, and after game 1.

After that clarification, I still standby my original premise of "if" and "he's old bones" and I'll add on, that should "if" happen, it wont last long.
If I'm wrong, good for the Oilers, but continuing to hope or bet the future of the team on his aging abilities is not a very good bet.

Just as a positive note, it's really fun to see the prior season record looking at this Ottawa game. Would be sweeter with a win earlier this season, but the clean sweep last season is just nice to look at, especially with so many games played.

Ottawa plays hard and can be a tough out. The Oilers pissed away a game last time. They need to win this one.

I feel like for most of Ottowa's existence, the Oilers have had a better team by far. since 1992 the oilers have won 55% of games vs the Sens (54 games total)... I really thought that would have been higher, especially since the Oilers won all 9 games last year... Even in the decade of darkness, the sens still sucked.
They seem like Oilers Kryptonite. If we ever meet them in the playoffs, we're doomed.

Well now I'm curious.
Year / Sens / Oil
1993 24 60
1994 37 64
1995 23 38
1996 41 68
1997 77 71
1998 83 80
1999 103 78
2000 95 88
2001 109 93
2002 94 92
2003 113 92
2004 102 89
2005 no no
2006 113 95
2007 105 71
2008 94 88
2009 83 85
2010 94 62
2011 74 62
2012 92 74
2013 56 45
2014 88 67
2015 99 62
2016 85 70
2017 98 103
2018 67 78
2019 64 79
2020 62 83
2021 51 72
I've got the Sens with 2226 points to the Oilers 2019 and finishing higher in the overall standings 19 of 28 years. The Oilers finished better than the Sens for their first four years, the last 4 years, and 2008-09. That's scary bad.

You may feel that way, but that's certainly not the case. Their first few years they were terrible, but then they made the playoffs 11 years in a row, a SCF berth, 6 100+ point seasons, 4 division titles, a President's trophy. No - we have by far been worse.

Ahh yes the years of danny "I'm an all star heatley", chara, redden, alfieri, oh the list of players that team had at one point a shame they didn't win a cup really.

Ugh...it's never fun remembering how much worse the Oilers have been than just about anyone else.
Would actually be an interesting to see what the numbers are from the start of the Lowe era and from the start of the salary cap era.
The worst is that we were always told that the second the salary cap was in, we would be able to be really competitive again, because it was just that teams like Detroit, Dallas and Colorado got to spend so much more than us that held us back.
In the end, it wasn't just the money...
"Thinking that a bad team's best players are the reason the team is bad is the "Tambellini re-signing Lennart Petrell" of sports opinions." @Woodguy55

Disagree! I thoroughly enjoyed looking at the list of Oilers and Sens seasons.
The Sens were actually pretty good for the better part of 15 years. They might be up with the Sharks as a team that should have won the cup.

...a real goalie in net tonight.
Score early and then, if possible, score often.
Scoring 1st two games in a row would be nice.
...this time, it's for real (isn't it?).

Saturday was E. Kane's 1st NHL game all year, and only his 6th pro-hockey game all year (5 AHL games).
I think it'll take at least 20 games before he gets the NHL fitness to play to his potential with McDavid, high speed, lots of ice time will leave him suckin' wind for a while.. its comin' !
McDAVID! Oh YEAH Baby!!
