There’s quite serious a path to a playoff BoA and he could be a large part of it

I’m very excited for Evander Kane the Oiler.

Can’t get crusty if there’s a continuous source of moisture 😏

Stauffer tweeted his projected lines with Kane on lineup and it’s so Tippett...

Kane-McDavid-Hyman
RNH-Draisaitl-Yamamoto
Foegele-McLeod-Puljujarvi
Shore-Ryan-Kassian

I get wanting that right shot C but man oh man Nuge to 3C and McLeod at 4C just makes too much sense.

Also, Nugsaimoto has run its course me fears.

Man that's just stupid if true. Yamo needs to get off the top 6 today. Having Kane allows that.
56 constantly gets erased, and has zero finish, wasting too many grade A's from Leon.
And I think I'd keep Sceviour over Ryan or Shore.

Once Holloway makes it up, the Nuge at C idea might actually happen. He plays well at C.

I just hope that's some of Stauffer's BS leaking out.

I do not agree with Stauffers lines just because I don't think the Nuge - Leon - Yamo line works. Those 3 had a good 26 games 2 yrs ago, after that not a lot of success and I don't think they would work in the playoffs.
I'd have these lines.

Kane-McDavid-Yamo
Hyman- Draisaitl-JP
Foegele-Nuge-Kassian
Shore/Sceviour-McLeod-Ryan

I think they will had another bigger bottom 6 forward that would bump out one of Shore/Sceviour, Ryan.

Maybe it's wishful thinking but I think adding a guy like Kane will spark Kassian. Kane is big, mean, physical and tough player so having another guy like that often makes it easier to do it. Not making excuses but sometimes being the lone guy on the team that does that, can be hard.

That, to me, looks to be about as bad of a deployment as one could come up with.

Balance the top 3 lines, 4th line, whatever. That second line hasn't looked good in a couple of years. But even if it did, that 3rd line could get more of a boost than the drop off moving a better player down there.

10000000% agree

Addition of Kane should absolutely punt Nuge to 3C. Still gets his pp and pk time, gets to spread out the 5v5 time for 97 and 29... which IS A POSITIVE!

All I'm going to say is Tippett's blender will be the hardest worker in Montreal. Hope burnout isn't the result.

Stauffer should definitely not be the next coach. Both Benson and Sceviour are better than Shore. It should be a shock to see the Oilers waiving Sceviour when they could waive Shore instead, but it's the Oilers, so no one really expects them to get these things right.

Fully agree. Dumb call sacrificing him, hope he doesn’t get claimed as other than Benson he’s been the one in the bottom 6 who’s been willing to consistently throw his weight around AND stick up for his teammates that we’ve seen.

Would rather see him than Shore, Ryan or Kassian in the lineup.

Turris was already waived to the taxi squad so that wasn't an option, but Shore and Ryan haven't done a lot other than rack up minuses this year, and Kassian would be a blessing to have claimed and free up that cap space. I wouldn't have exposed Sceviour with those others as options.

I have to say I thought Sceviour has been far more effective than either Ryan or Shore.. I would've selected Ryan, he's got another year at 1.25M, Shore is only 850K for another year, and Sceviour is only 750K for this year, the guy you don't mind losing to waivers is Ryan IMO. Only thing Ryan has going for him is FO's

I don't mind those line suggestions. I might swap Hyman and Foegele just because he doesn't have as much finish as Hyman but adding Kane really improves things. I think they could use a bigger, physical winger to add into the bottom 6. An upgrade on Shore or Ryan.

Some of his answers just aren't very satisfactory. He's saying how good he is in the lockerroom, and what a leader he is, but then he confirms that some of the Sharks leaks are true and simply seems to think that the only thing wrong about it is that someone leaked - no investigation about whether he's done anything to rub teammates the wrong way.

Quote:

Daniel Nugent-Bowman
@DNBsports

Kane says to say he didn't get along with every teammate in SJ is false. Says leaks of that narrative came from the dressing room, not him, and "that's not good leadership."

I think Spector is right (ugh ack ick) when he suggests that Kane is just portraying himself as a victim and isn't taking much responsibility for anything.

Man - he better bring it here though, or I would think that a lot of those Oilers fans who are protecting him on twitter and elsewhere are going to turn on him hard. I don't think this is a player people will have a ton of patience for. And if he does become a sideshow? Watch out.

I do think that this is where the leadership of Duncan Keith really comes in to play though. Hopefully the young Oilers players have learned from him how to avert your eyes so as to not see anything you don't want to.

Holy crap... Kane to score the first goal of his first game with the Oilers? Bettman would HATE this.

Id love it.

He’s an Oiler. He’s made some mistakes. I’ll still cheer for him to perform well and hope his off ice stuff improves.

Go Evander!

A dimension to E. Kane that I completely forgot about...
We have our new legit Enforcer.
Who else playing 1st line minutes brings this to the party?

M. Cooke initiates a scrap with a young E. Kane.. did not end well for Matty..

And he doesn't pick his spots.. instigates a scrap vs Chara.. then vs. Reaves (gulp!).. then Gudbranson

Pummels Hamhuis.. then takes on A. Watson

Some spud named Zykov..

Anders Lee

McKenzie Weeger

Pearson.. "Kane was staring down the Penguin bench the whole game.." icon_smile

Dare I say I’d support Holland in extending him (as long as it wasn’t at the expense of my boo Jesse)

I think trading Barrie might help, that's 4.5M.

Yup. Plays that way...scores...and he's been voted off three teams by his teammates. How garbage of a human do you have to be to have that happen?

Dust off the paper bags from the fall for hall...we need them.

He can win over all the fans and media by just beating the hell out of the first guy that touches McDavid :)

How can a guy not cheer for Kane now eh? Knowing him doing well is going to enrage Spector

Good point.. you know he'll be looking to conjure up some qualifying argument though if Kane does well..

We will see if this jagoff lasts the year. That being said, a rehabilitated Kane would work well on the McDavid line. There would be fewer players taking liberties with Connor that's for sure. He would be like a 40 point Semenko.
