Ya, Tippett won't be pleased. It would be ok if it was Russell, but not a rookie.

Ouch, yeah, Samorukov not doing himself any favors on 2 goals against. Full on pylon.

The first goal was a series of misplays and bad luck, he just happened to be the guy at the tail end of it.
The second one he looked like an overwhelmed rookie.
Tough start for a young guy.

Both he just stops moving his feet and seems to just have a total brain freeze. Getting into the mind of the Tippett, I don't like his chances for a while.

Maybe when Steelcroft takes over, we'll see him again.

This is of course what we were talking about with Tippett and young (or inexperienced) players. Does it really make any sense to bench the kid for the rest of the game, meaning that octogenarian Duncan Keith needs to play 26 minutes?

It's the kid's first shifts in the NHL. Find a way to get him settled and play him in protected minutes. Don't just sit him on the end of the bench and let him rot for the whole game.

He learned nothing from last season. Tippett's gotta go.

Tip in the post-game says that Playfair is the one that went down to 5 D.

Aside from that, all issues of the game Tip says were because of the turnovers for those first 2 goals so they had to chase the game.

Classic - it wasn't me. It was my assistant coach. You'll have to ask him, but he's not available right now.

Also - that damn rookie cost us the game.

That's infuriating. Everyone is accountable except for the guy at the top.

Sorry, not everyone. Duncan Keith played 26 minutes, including this gem of a play.

Jack Han (@JhanHky) has a good breakdown of the goal here:

https://twitter.com/JhanHky/status/1476411924590080003?s=20http://

tl;dr nobody looked good on this one, but Keith's read and reaction were too slow and directly opened up the space for Tarasenko. I would also add that Draisaitl's backcheck looked nonexistent there.

Oilers Goal Differential
17/18: 234 GF / 263 GA (-29)
18/19: 232 GF / 274 GA (-42)
19/20 (82 game pace): 257 GF / 254 GA (+3) in 64 games
2021 (82 game pace):269 GF / 235 GA (+34) after 38 games

That is really Samo's fault though. Clearly he was supposed to be against the kyrou Tarasenko line all night but he messed up 2 straight shifts against them. Keith is too cool do have to deal with that kind of ice time so he was teaching Samo a lesson about what can happen if he takes himself out of the game

The Oilers are holding down the last playoff spot in the west and have the worst L10 of anyone that has an arena lease that goes through next season. Steady as she goes, I guess. Once Smith gets back up to game speed, I'm sure everything will be fine.

So far the 1st line/Foegele experiment isn't going well. He seems to be in the way in the O zone on a regular basis.
Might be a learning curve issue so maybe needs some consecutive games with McDavid to build chemistry.

That play read there on the 3rd goal is why we tied up our 2nd and 3rd round picks to not be usable at the deadline and paid the full 5.5M for Keith.

Not the only error on that sequence either, but...ugh. Just start the playoffs right now. Rip the bandaid off this season.

That cross checking on Bouchard earlier should have been a boarding major.

I figured Jack and Bob would have shed some light, but seemed to have other things to talk about.
