Le sigh. Not a good look on Koskinen there, but Nurse really has to be stronger on his man.
Also, did I imagine it or did Yams get tripped right in front of the net back there as he was walking into the slot?
Also, why am I hearing a dog barking on the broadcast?

Russell sure got a nice view of his man going in alone right in the slot there.

Hahahaha. The dog barking thing is awesome.
We won’t win the Stanley Cup with Koskinen. He’ll have a good game here and there, but he’s not a guy who’ll shut the door more often than not.
Need to set some goals - like try to make it to the 2 minute mark not trailing.
And how was that not a trip on Yamomoto?

Kinda sucks that we don't ever start playing until the 3rd period...by which point I'm usually fast asleep.

Probably part of the stellar intermission entertainment package.
KRussell let's a man go unimpeded to the net for a tap in. This shat is inexcusable. What's wrong with these guys?

The thing is, he hustled to get back to Foligno, but as soon as he caught up, he stopped and Foligno just skated on to the net. It was like he was playing Tag and not hockey.

I know it was so bizarre. this behavior from an experienced vet who is supposed to be a defensive-first specialist, just lets the open man continue untouched towards the front of the net and just stands there guarding nobody, brain fart? Default responsibility has to be open man in front of the net every time.

The amount of stupid mistakes by vets is driving me nuts. You mentioned Russell. What about Koskinen on the first goal? He has his foot against the post like he is supposed too, so the puck isn't going in. The Wild players is maybe 2 ft away from him. Then he decides to pull his leg off the post, reach back and try to cover the puck. WHY!!! Just keep your leg against the post and the puck doesn't go in.
Just dumb!!

That's a solid D of a period. No fricking juice whatsoever and these guys have been talking about it for weeks. I see absolutely no reason why this skid is ending at 2 games, so far.

Absolute make-belief fantasy penalty on Bouchard to start the game, then a super-weak effort by Nurse tieing up the open man for the rebound, 1-0
Then #6 a spectator on the 2-0 goal, lets the open man skate right by him for a tap in.
This will get ugly.
Oil with a lots of chances, zero finish.

Instead of just physical testing for the players, they should have another completely different set of tests for mental acuity, I suspect a lot of the team would fail.

"First Shot Talbot" watching the Oilers let in a goal in the 1st minute of a game again
Oilers, kings of early goals against since (at least) 2013.

I've been running my mouth a LOT this season with Drai and Connor leading the points standings and fighting it out for the MVP.
...but there is a shred of doubt about our 5v5 play I have buried deep. In the long run 5v5 doesn't matter if you've got a 50% pp right?

I think I heard something during the broadcast that they were 1 for the last 14 or something. Not sure what part of the game that was but they are now 0 for 4 (maybe even 5) tonight.
The PP dry spell is exposing the holes in the roster.

Some of us have been saying that for some time, but got accused of just being negative posters, well because look at the record…I mean it’s awesome when the PP is chugging along at a 50% clip, and obviously the team’s record will be inflated because of it, but sometimes just looking at the final score and the standings won’t tell the whole story. And that is the case with the 2021-2022 Oilers.

Beuh. 3 game skid it is. I think I’ve had enough for tonight.
Our otherworldly power play as expected is coming back down to Earth. Should still be good, but not 50%.
We need better goaltending, and we need someone to produce when neither McDavid nor Draisaitl are on the ice.

This thing is gathering the speed to potentially grow into a big problem.
Pens fired Therien, brought up Bylsma and won the cup the same season. Don’t expect a move like that to happen but tippet isn’t giving this team a spark, the players aren’t providing a spark... it’s up to Holland to do something to kick the tires here and get the fires lit.
That being said... being without the second D pair is their easy built in excuse for this slide that I truly think keeps rolling, save a McDavid takeover performance.
