So? Any dmen coming back? Hoping for a win, but honestly wins in Vegas and against the Pens, playing with house money at this point.

I feel the same way. I of course want them to win but with this defense, I was hoping they would go 1-1-1 over these next 3 and I would feel good about it. With 2 wins already, if they can even get a point, that would be huge.
But hopefully the forwards especially since they aren't at home, play a little tighter and they can overpower Seattle.

I believe no.
Hopefully Tippett gets out of his own way and plays the young guys a little more tonight. We're just asking for another injury if Russell and Barrie play half the game again.

Sounds like Skinner might be getting the start which is what I would have done. Koskinen has been excellent 2 games in a row which means if you start him tonight, he will probably have a stinker just because. So break that cycle.

Shouldn't Ceci either be playing or have the Covid at this point? Has it been verified either way?

Lines for tonight.
Hyman - McD - Yamo
RNH - Drai - JP
Foegele - McLeod - Kass
Perlini - Ryan Sceviour
Russell - Barrie
Lagesson - Bouchard
Niemelaninen - Broberg
Skinner
I like the mix for the top 6. I don't think a line can be successful when you have 2 undersized, somewhat passive players in Nuge and Yamo on the same line so putting a bigger, more assertive player on 1 wing in Hyman and JP and then 2 passive guys on the other makes more sense to me.
Benson deserves to take a seat. He had another game with zeros for stats except the dumbass penalty he took running the Pens goalie.

That was a horrible penalty. It is inexplicable why Benson took that route through the crease. Benson or Perlini....not much of a difference. Benson seems to have created more scoring chances throughout the year, but both are an offensive black holes.

With Shore coming back soon and McLeod unlikely to be going anywhere, someone will have to be waived and sent to Bakersfield. The choices would be Benson, Perlini, Sceviour, Turris, or Shore. Benson is probably the only one likely to be claimed.

I would probably send down Turris of all those players. It won't happen but maybe you get lucky and someone picks him up. No one will of course. But if you send him down, you'd get over 1 mill in cap space.
I think Shore would get picked up if he went on waivers. In my opinion, he's an NHL 4th liner that plays multiple positions and makes barely above league minimum. Maybe Benson gets picked up if some offensively starved team thinks his AHL scoring means something. The thing is, if you pick up a Benson, you have to put him on your roster but I think most teams have multiple Benson's in their organization. A guy who can light up the AHL but might not be an NHLer.

I would send down Shore, given he's among the worst players in the league. Tippett loves him though, so I expect he's not the guy. I could see Perlini going. 12 games, but only cracked 10 minutes twice in that span (and only just cracked it both times). He doesn't have the faith of the coaching staff and he's 0-0-0 and -3. I think he has some offensive instincts, but I think the marching orders for the fourth line are to take no risks and just try not to get scored on, so he's not getting to push for offence. He has just 6 shots on goal.
I think Tippett would be fine demoting Benson, but I think the organization would be loathe to see him get claimed and he is the most likely to be claimed.
Outside chance Turris gets the demotion, but I think Tippett still thinks as an older vet that Turris can add something.

For me it's give Benson a couple of games then unless he does something to stand out, throw in Perlini for a couple. Then repeat. They are place holders for Shore. Once Shore is back, the 4th line will be:
Shore - Ryan - Sceviour. Then one of Benson or Perlini will get sent down.
Benson is a left winger who's not better than Hyman or Nuge or Foegele. So he's a 4th liner on the Oilers. He's not a penalty killer and the Oilers have the 4th best PK in the league so it would be insane to change out someone for him to give him a chance. Most NHL teams don't play their 4th line a ton 5 on 5 anyway so when you aren't on special teams, all you are going to get is 6 -7 mins a night tops.
I know Adam will respond telling me how horrible Shore is and how Benson scored a lot in the AHL but at some point Benson has to do something to stand out other than take dumb penalties in the 6 mins he gets.
Perlini is not much different. The only advantage I guess that Perlini has is he skaters better, is bigger and at least scored some in the NHL. He has 46 career NHL goals.
Benson
10 GP, 0 pts, -3, 6 pims, 13 hits, 6 shots.
Perlini
12 GP, 0 pts, -3, 2 pims, 16 hits, 6 shots.
Those stats say both aren't doing a hell of a lot to stand out so when Shore comes back, why not throw him in there.

On the play the goalie stepped out slightly and extended his stick arm, then Benson bumped the stick going by and the goalie dove. I don't really blame Benson for that one. Lots of acting on the part of the goaler....

I don't know...he cut right through the blue paint. It's possible Jarry made a meal of it, but Benson made it really easy for him to do so.
He only got one more shift after that, which I think is a mistake that Tippett makes. He is constantly using ice time as a stick to beat young players (and only young players) with. I don't think benching a player for a mistake is a good strategy. It doesn't actually teach anyone anything, just gives the guy no chance to make up for his mistake. There are reasons to shorten your bench, and in a tight game, you may want to do so in the third period to play your best players more, but I wouldn't do it simply to prove a point to a kid who did something dumb.
That said, Benson should know who his coach is by now, and know that he can't do straight up stupid things. Running in to Jarry was stupid and he's got to find a way to avoid that.
