I thought the Oilers giving Russell that shot blocking award was pretty freaking classy and I am sure it was appreciated by the guys in the room for the team doing that. Whether you like the player or not, I hope the fans in attendance showed the guy some respect. They seemed to be quite appreciative on the broadcast, though I'm sure Adam took the opportunity to use the "facilities" while he was being celebrated He got a standing ovation. I stood and clapped too. Nice for the player to get that recognition, whether it's a dubious honour or not. There was no booing and as far as I saw, no one tried to "ruin it" for him. Good for you. Hopefully you weren't one of the guys shredding him on twitter.

No one sees my twitter, so it really doesn't matter what I say there. It's on total lock down and I rarely tweet.

I don't think that Russell is above criticism, and so unless people are saying offensive things, or tagging him and his family, then I can't really get upset about that. I don't know what the furor is about though, so can't comment on that much.

I think he's a very limited defenceman, and that his limitations are a big part of why he's not the block record holder. He's still an Oiler though and I don't cheer against him, even if I think the team probably should have cut bait there long ago.
