Keith and Ceci - three games, three even strength goals against. Ceci looked rooted in place there.

Keith chasing to the wall with Nuge before to create the 2 on 1.
Maybe was up to Nuge as well to catch the trailer. That was pretty ugly regardless.
To Ceci's credit, that's exactly how Larsson always looked when the whole team left him with a sudden 2 on 1. So, still filling that role nicely :)

Fantastic pass from Nugent-Hopkins. That goal is all driven by 93.

W T F was that Smitty?
I get it, he's a battler, but at this level you simply cannot let goals like that in.

Sometimes you have to wait until the game after a bad one to see the true battle mode. And if it doesn't show up the next game, the odds get higher it will in the one after that.

Pool Party getting abused to help the team. McD needs to take some penalty drawing lessons.

I think he’s trying to get away from that greasy wet look he’s been sporting since the beginning of time. This appears to be the result.

Dang, that's the same spot Smith gave up the game tie-er against 'Nucks last week. Is that the new 'high glove'?

Woof. The D is weak tonight and Smith isn't bailing them out.
Barrie looked like a pylon there.

How does Zegras not get a spearing penalty to offset Jesse's slash there?
The NHL officiating never fails to show how garbage it is.
Not to mention that they didn't call the cross check from Zegras a couple of seconds earlier.

Man, the Oil look they are the team that just played last night. Anaheim looks fresh AF and ready to blow the doors off.
The D looks horrendous right now.
These are must-win games if the Oilers are going to get into that contender echelon. Anaheim was working them over through most of the second.
The third better have some inspired hockey, or the Oil are taking an L here.

Eakins ultimate diet plan paying off finally? Or maybe we are just not playing that well. Letting an Eakins team have easy runs to the front of the net and the slot...that's not supposed to happen. Certainly never happened for us when he coached here.

Joined this late, not what I expected. Oilers look disjointed.Lots of long distance muffins from the Oilers D with no traffic. I want to see plan B in the 3rd.
Is Smith banged up or did he get yanked?

That was the most obvious tripping penalty ever to give a full 5 on 3. Of course the refs just pretend it never happend

To be fair though, when was the last time that PP2 got more than about 20 secs of pp time?
Barrie still looking pretty rough. I know he started slow last season too, but come on man. Still loving Foegle & Hyman (even if Hyman did miss that open net on that sweet feed from Nuge)

To be fair to Stolarz, it deflected off the stick of his teammate after Evan poke-checked the puck. I'll take it too.

So how long til Bouch replaces Barrie on PP1? He certainly seems to have a more accurate shot. Barrie probably still a better playmaker at this point though.

Barrie has looked awful all 3 games.. lookslike 3rd pair.
Time for Bouchard to move up..
D. Keith looking great out there.
Hyman driving Nuge's line.
Kassian having a couple good games now... 2 Goals!!
Nurse making a lot of bad cover decisions..
LD still needs to get his feet moving this season.. even if got 4 pts!
Boys will get better, need time to adjust to NHL game speed.
McDAVID! Oh YEAH Baby!!

Real growth from Tippett there. I think someone told him you don't actually get to use them next game.

Puljujarvi drawing 2 penalties in one sequence is my favourite part of the season so far.
Tough night for Barrie. He and Nurse looked baffled on the 3-on-2 for goal #3 and then he got absolutely turnstiled on goal #4. I'm concerned that if he's moved away from McDavid for the long-term, more people may start to realize how bad trading Bear and signing Barrie to a 3-year deal is.
2nd line is struggling. Time to move Drai down. Or even Puljujarvi, see if he can drive that line. Hyman/RNH/Puljujarvi might actually be a pretty good 2nd line. And bonus if he only scores 60 points playing with RNH, instead of 80 playing with McDavid they might be able to get him a little cheaper on his next deal. Move Yamo up and see if playing with McDrai can get him going, and if that doesn't work, see if Kassian does.
I suspect that this team will continue to beat up on the mediocre teams in the league, the top-end talent is just too high, but this defence is going to be in trouble against good teams.
