To Sweden to play for LHC in SHL. Guess he went to school in the same place before starting his career.

Sorry you didn't get that NHL goal PRussell. Will still remember you got robbed for one.

I feel like the only even half decent euro black ace the Oilers have signed was Haas, and that’s not a high bar.

I had a hard time assessing Nygard, since we saw him so seldom. 42 games over two years - 11 less than Patrick Russell, despite outscoring him (3-6-9 to 0-7-7). Coach just never took to him the same way...

It’s funny after all the complaining by our fans that the only two things I didn’t like this entire off-season was losing Haas who definitely brought the speed of the 4th up big time and Nygaard just leaving without being able to get a more of a shot. Apparently he was the best Oiler this season in camp but I guess it’s not enough to be put ahead of Patrick Russell. The team and especially the bottom 6 just got much slower, 2 of the 3 fastest skaters on the team.
Everyone will mention adding Keith slowing the team but I give vets a pass, they usually can figure ways to stay in the league.
"Bah Gawd! Would somebody stop the damn draft!"

Actually, that's true. I just forgot about Nygaard, since he never got to play.

Dont enjoy taking negatively about a professional but this is addition by subtraction for the Oilers.

It's probably more about Tippett than Russell himself. He's fine as a 3rd/4th option guy with injuries on a contract you can fully bury. Could do worse. But, when your coach treats this kind of player like a son, constantly trying to find ways to get him into the lineup, it becomes a problem.

He’d be an alright 23/24th option, you mean?
But ya. His compete on the taxi squad really impressed Tipp... and others throughout the league so much that he decided to go back to Europe instead
One less Russell on this team is a good thing.

I was trying to be nice and have him 21st/22nd :) And that is keeping in mind how almost our entire bottom 6 was below replacement level this season.
