Just drop the puck. League needs to crack down on a scheduled 5:00 game not starting until 5:20.

I’m not even sure I’ve heard a Brent Kissel song in my life.

This doesn’t make me a bad Canadian, does it?

Edmonton’s social media game has improved so much. About time.

Nuge line looks to be too small and soft on the puck. Might be time to bump up Kassian for a few shifts. Kahun is getting pushed around and isn’t engaging the play.

I'm not sure why Brett Kissel is such a big thing with the Oilers. Seems odd to me.

Is he related to someone in the organization?

Man, the Leafs just shut this team down. They have figured out McD and Leon.

I'm not sure how they've managed to do it, but 4 shots through 20 minutes? After a whole week off?

Gross.

Looks more like rust. Lots of missed passes and pucks in skates. Hoping the second starts and finishes better.

I don't know dude... 5 shots on net 26 minutes into this game? One shot every five minutes?

That's not good.

They've been far more focused on playing in their own end, and overall they've done a pretty good job of keeping the Leafs to outside shots on Smith. That goal was pure luck, plain and simple, which sucks.

Good period by him overall. Couple good saves, decent rebound control and when he did play the puck there were no major gaffes. Cant ask for much more

One thing about RNH playing center, he skates faster. If he bothered to skate that fast when he was playing up on McD's wing he'd have been a lot more effective.

Think something has lit a fire under nuge's but the last couple weeks. Maybe his agent reminded him that he is in a contract year. He has definitely been more involved lately.

So, from that panel my understanding is that you can either have refs managing games and no matter how lame and boring and grabby a team is or how much star players are being tackled, the penalties always have to end up about even, OR you can choose to have a light slash in the 3rd period of game 7 of the cup finals being called 100% of the time.

That makes deciding pretty easy I guess. Game management and nearly even PP's every night with stars being tackled without calls FTW.

Whoa, I'd completely forgotten the Oil were finally playing again tonight, albeit vs a team that really tuned them up last night they met. The fact that it's still even in the 2nd seems like a good sign, but the Oil scoring would be even nicer, of course....

Wow, close call, as it actually didn't look like Engall actually made contact with his hand. I'm not going to complain if this goes the Oil way, but it actually should be a Leafs goal.

Saw HNIC panel talking about the Tim Peel "event", which allowed a public glimpse behind the curtain of the NHL ref score management. As expected, all boot-lickers. Used nebulous terms like managing the "flow" of the game, as opposed of what really happens, and the most egregious, which is "score" management.

Ex players, now analysts preface any comments with how much respect they have for Tim Peel, yet in Athletic’s 2020 players poll, Peel was ranked the second worst referee in the NHL. This is coming right from the best source possible, the players.

Yep, I will take that as pretty conclusive evidence that he was low on the list quality wise.

The funniest thing is that Peel wanted to retire LAST year, and the NHL begged him to do one more year .. then they end up throwing him under the bus to deflect attention from the practice of score management, and ban him to infamy !! No good deed goes unpunished .. lol!

That segment made me barf.

I expected vomit, but not the kind with big chunks of stupid.

I just loved all the nice window dressing the comments about Peel were loaded with.

He was garbage.

I dont pay as much attention to refs, specifically whos who. Was he one that was often criticized? More so than the general ref complaining I mean

Ex players, now analysts preface any comments with how much they respect Tim Peel, yet in Athletic’s 2020 players poll, Peel was ranked the second worst referee in the NHL.

No good deed goes unpunished .. lol!

Yeah, it’s not like he’s alone in this style of game management. It’s rampant.

He just accidentally confirmed what everyone has known for decades.

Wow, steal save by Smith on Marner's rush. He's in the zone right now, he is.

What a pile of garbage that segment was.

As a fan I’ve always wanted more calls than less - but real calls. Not ticky tack crap. But the stuff that impedes the stars of the game especially is what I want to see called. Open it up and let the stars shine. Can’t stop them legally? Well sit down two minute and feel shame.

It’s ludicrous to me that people broadcasting the game are condoning/justifying officials actively influencing games.

Had Peel reffed any games involving the Oil this season?

Refs are staying in division this year. That's why it feels like was get Mark Joanette every other game.

No, he didn't- just terrible luck that the damn puck banked off Smith's helmet into his own net.

No Cups

Holy does this team need to wake up. Get effing going! We're giving the Leafs infinite respect right now.

This team loses too... just not to us.

Just as I type that out, Nurse with the goal. Good work. Hopefully that adds a little juice moving forward in this game.
