I’m all for patriotism, but why are anthems still played at sporting events?

I spend the whole anthem raging over people not taking off their caps or looking at the flag.

Save the anthem for the World stage.

Second time that's happened to neal this year, tippett has made a few head scratchers. Benching bouchard, his love of anyone named Russell are among the biggest

I must correct myself. He scored Wednesday, not last night.

Is he still dealing with fatigue? Think that was the main reason for him coming in and out of the lineup earlier in the year.

It's a little bizarre that the team would decide to scratch anyone in favour of Patrick Russell, but maybe we're wrong about Tippett and he does have a soft spot for individual records?

Every time I’ve watched a Canucks home game, I always find myself wanting hashbrowns. Never quite realized why till now... that dang Cavendish advert on the tarp in the Oilers end.

It’s just refreshing watching a home game there without dude with man boobs and a man bun pounding on the glass.

Try living 2 mins down the road of the Cavendish factory. There's a perma-fries smell around this place.

Ahh, good to see we're hanging on the edge of the "Picking McDavid for the Hart is boring, need to talk up any possible alternative" part of the season.

Matthews talked up endlessly lately while being #2 in points on his own team. After all the garbage we had to hear about McDavid and Drai not being worthy while being #1 in points on our team and the league.

Didn’t see it till the second replay... but in the refs defense, the slash to the hands has been something they’ve been calling pretty consistent all season

I'm going to call it, Russell to get the GWG......

I wouldn't say we are tired, but we are a just a bit off the pace that would really hurt this Nucks team. The game needs a goal desperately.

Damn refs with x-ray vision.

And went are there any assists awarded for that goal. We ended up putting it in after the pile was pushed. Nvm they changed it to unassisted

Lol. What the hell is that. Ref really wanted that goal

Looked like a goddamn rugby scrum. What a joke.

No it wasn't. But the ref thinks he's "game managing", weaker team gets to push bodies' through the crease until the puck crosses the line. No hockey play there. If refs let you (unlike this clown), you could score a goal every shift like that. The normal call is to blow the whistle when sight of the puck is lost, other wise guys would be spearing away at the goalie with their sticks every goal front scrum, that's when guys get hurt. The defense for that is defensemen start cross checking the forwards in the head if they start poking away at the their goalie. Not a good scenario, but inevitable.

Refs should have called it, play was over. But we remember what the NHL thought about goaltender interference against the Oilers during that playoff game vs Anaheim with Kessler..
